When using a 1 - 16x DVD-R on my computer, the maxmimum speed it will write is at 4x, is there something wrong with the disc, drive or software
I believe my recorder can write with speeds of upto 16x, can't remember, but i know is can write at 8x because i can remember having done it before
Can i solve this speed problem, and how
How do i check the specs of my recorder
Thank You
I had a similar problem a while back, but it was the media. I changed to another brand and viola, I can burn at 16X.

If it is the media, then only 1 of the 10 brands that i have tried work as specified
Thanks for the reply
Dunno. DVD Burners burn a lot more data per second than CD Burners. I might just be talking about your CD Burner (which would be pretty slow for CD's), or else the DVD's your using only allow a certain speed.

In this order
1)remove the DVD media from your DVD player
2) Use Nero Tookit > Nero InfoTool to get the specs and firmware level
update the firmware
3)enable DMA on the drive
4)reinstall ASPI
5)update firmware
.
Thanks for the reply Krell
Firmware updates do not exist for my drive, i will have to research it further
ASPI drivers, which would you recommend i use, i heard that the "Adaptec ASPI Drivers" are not very good
And DMA is already enabled
What are your choices? I installed v4.71 when I installed Ace Mega Codec Packs, it asks you in the installation process. Has always worked fine for me. Be sure you have 16x media in the drive when you look at DVD burner properties, or it will misrepresent.Originally Posted by invincible
