I'm reinstalling Windows XP, and i want to delete everything i have now and start over. I did New Installation, then, when it asked me what partition to install it on, i selected the one the old XP was on, it gave me the option of deleting that one. When i choose this option, it said it couldnt delete the partition cause there were temporary setup files on it. ANY advice on how to do this?

Format the drive using a dos/boot up disk.....ask Krell how to do this if you don't know how to. :shy

Or format an make 2 drives so in place of only having C:\ you have C:\ and D:\ - but there the same HD just set up different.

I think there should be a format option somewhere on that menu instead of choosing install

I think he meant format by this.....if it's not working dos/boot disk formatting is the way to go.

boot from the XP cd. u may have to config your bios but thats the only way to do it. its gonna be slower but it wont relay on the hard drive to install.

Yeah, either do that (boot from your XP CD) or get a Win98se bootdisk, boot with it in the drive, and format from there.

I can send you a boot disk so you can manually reformat your disk.
(PM me)

You can also have a minor-setting boot disk doing that:
insert your floppy into your drive
go to windows Explorer (or any windows showing a:)
right click and select "format"
From the options choose "Make a Dos boot disk"

You should be able to boot with it...

then just type :

format c:

S switch? Going to be suck booting off floppy every time till you install without it....
