:mellow Just go into control panel, sounds and play around. You can have a thunderstorm when you start up, and a couger, or my favorite, a bunch of monkeys when you shut down. So far I havnt seen a lot of ways to hurt your sys doing this,so enjoy and have fun. PS the monkeys remind me of Bill. LOL

actualy there are are programs, that are freeware, that allows for automation, of changing of sound files on startup and shut down.
i will see what icome up with
    and post more information
for me i dont like to have sound, when i turn off my computer, btw, inever turn my computer off. but when i used to the sound would corrupt my shut down.
and it would cause erros for me
however, i am sure, what u are looking for is themes, and sound, that can be changed systematically, or everday.
this means, that the sound u want, u want it to change on start up, shut down.
there are programs out there, but to be honest, i have to look into it.
    i remember some.
