I converted an avi to mpeg, was this wrong?

I cant get it to burn, I've tried various programmes.

Are you trying to burn DVDs? You did the right thing to convert avi to mpeg. Using mpeg2 video with DVD authoring program will create vobs & other files for that DVD. Then, use DVD burning program like Nero to burn those DVD files to blank DVD disk that will play on your standard DVD player!

Yes I am trying to burn the disc. I now have 2 vob files, but I cant get them to burn.

I would redownload the AVI file again.. Or if you still have it on your pc, keep it in a good place. Now install NERO vision express or the premium package of 7.---- i think its 65 megs on torrentspy.com


EDIT..
DVDSANTA can burn those files for you in dvd format.

Did you convert it just to play on your DVD player for your TV? If so, what program are you using to burn them? If you are just wanting to save your files you do not need to convert them, just burn as data. Sorry if I repeat anything shawners said, I can't see his post.

Thanx Shawners and Mels, for trying to help, much appreciated guys.

What I did was to re-install Nero, cos I kept on getting the 'not responding ' message with it, so I thought it needed something.

it seems to be working fine now, and I also burnt the file to disc.

Appears to me that you should beable to burn all them files to a data dvd and they should play wow what a small movie must be like an episode or some small show or home movie.

Img burn is a great tool you should beable to cut the mustard with that simply by making an ISO out of them files and burning with that its freeware code based off of DVDDecrypters Disc burning engine.

I have got img burn too.....sometimes these file extensions are baffling.
