Question Buying a digicam - Need input

I'm looking to buy a digicam but these 'digicam buying guides' are making my head spin, so I thought I'd ask you guys for your advice, since you're probably better clued up than these help documents.

I'm looking for a quality that would show up something as intricate as a hair on your face. A friend bought me a 3.2 mega pixel but as I had predicted, it blurred too much on zoom.

I guess I might be looking at something 5 mega pixels and up but I'd like to be exact. Besides, I don't want to pay 200 quid for a bad cam.

    Help much appreciated.

To be honest, this website: http://dcresource.com/ is a great tool. If you click on Reviews and Info, you can select the feature you want, and it will select from its database the cameras that would be good for you. The reviewer is consistent in what is tested from review to review. Not every camera is reviewed, but many are.

Some things to keep in mind are:
-How much memory does it come with?
-What kind of memory card does it use? How expensive are they?
-What kind of battery does it use? What's the average battery life?
Now stop being so freaking nice, and buy a stun gun. - Krell

I plan on buying a JVC 20 gig hand held camera in a few months.. Pricescan.com can find a low price if you know the model number or product you want. Mine is listed under 400 and any retailer will try to sell it at 600-760 or more.
