'Gilligan's Island' SS Minnow for sale

OTTAWA (AFP) - The ship that stranded the crew and eclectic passengers of 1960s television classic "Gilligan's Island" on an uncharted desert island following a torrential storm is for sale by its Canadian owner.

The SS Minnow set out on a "three-hour tour" with actor Bob Denver (Gilligan) and his gang, which wound up as castaways for three years on US primetime television, and their buffoonery replayed around the world for many decades.

"It's the same boat that was on Gilligan's Island ... They used it when they went out on the water," said agent George Schultz, who is selling the boat for a retired friend, Scott Taylor.

Kinda sad. I think that some people actually think that Bob Denver was actually an idiot because he played one so well on TV, but he was actually VERY intelligent in real life.

To add insult to injury, back in the 60s when this was made, there was no union for actors so they only got paid a weekly salary per show. They did not get ANY syndication rights and Bob Denver and the rest of the crew on the show never saw a penny from the revenues of syndication of that show. Which there is no telling how much money that show has made in syndication and is still a favorite today.

And the entertainment industry wants to call people who download a movie, game or TV show for no profit thieves?

But Bobs wife said he at least took comfort in the fact that the kids enjoyed the show and he was glad that he made a show that kids could enjoy.

Ahh, the memories. Wanted to to watch Return to Gilligan's Island once during dinner when I was a kid. Let's just say I was pouty since they made me turn it off whilst I ate. My step-mom didn't take to my pouting too kindly an proceeded to throw a tupperware cup at me. It hit me in the head and then she told me to go watch the damn show. As I sat watching it, I clutched my head as it hurt quite badly. This was questionable also and once I was inspected, they/she saw that I had a significant cut on my head. She tended to it but I believe I still have the scar to this day.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...

But I bet it was worth it huh? I remember it came on at 3:30 every day while I was in elementary school, I loved that show more than anything except for Lost in Space, those two were neck and neck along with the Munsters and the Adams Family. Life was good.
