Cox To Offer TiVo DVR Software

Cox Communications, the fourth largest U.S. cable TV operator, has agreed to offer subscribers the option of downloading to their set-top boxes TiVo's digital video recorder service, both companies said Thursday.

Under the deal, TiVo would customize its software for Cox, which has agreed to also carry TiVo's interactive advertising service. The TiVo services would be available for selected set-top boxes, and would not require subscribers to change the hardware.

Among the benefits of the TiVo software would be its popular user interface. In addition, TiVo said it plans to add Internet services linked to Cox's broadband network.

For TiVo, the deal expands the reach of its recently launched interactive advertising platform that tries to get viewers more involved with an advertiser's brand. For example, in May, TiVo unveiled an ad that lets subscribers customize a Lexus luxury car on their television screens.

You HAVE to get it before Lost starts back up, if there was ever a show that you needed to be able to pause or rewind, it is definitely this one............remember the 4 toed statue shot? I probably rewound it 20 times and paused it to get a good look at it.

Was that in the season finale? Was it near the Others camp? This just doesn't seem to ring a bell.

Thats why I have such a love / hate relationship with that darn show, theres so much detail that you cant helped but be sucked into it, and yet the detailedness of it is so frustrating as you literally have to watch and analyze everything. Thats why u need a DVR, so you can rewind it if you think u missed something.

I remember one episode in particluar that it came in handy, and thats when the blast doors go down on Locke and he sees that map has been written on its side under the black light that ensues. Was able to pause the map and get a good look at it because it flashes on the screen for maybe 3 seconds tops.
