I use Shareaza Plus all the time and it has never once steered me wrong and recently I made a little email for a chap I know and I thought sharing it won't do any harm. It's a great program to have for those single MP3's or rarities so here's a guide to set it up sweetly.
1) Download Shareaza Plus
Using this link, download the latest version of Shareaza Plus and install it. It's pretty easy to install, just keep clicking next.
http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sou...s_2.3.0.0i.exe
2) Add Exceptions to the Firewall
Go to Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Exceptions > Add Program > Add the Shareaza.exe program to the list.
3) Add Ports to the Firewall
Staying in the same section, click on Add Port and add the port number 6346 under TCP and then again under UDD (If you have a router, refer to http://www.portforward.com/ and select your current router, then "Shareaza" as the program to help you set up port forwarding.
4) Name your ports for clarification
Call these ports simply "Shareaza UDP" and "Shareaza TCP" just for recognition in the near future.
5) Configure your Network Settings
Launch the Shareaza program and in the settings section (Tools > Shareaza Settings) do the following...
- In the Gnutella settings, make sure Leaf to Hub is set at 3, Hub to Leaf is at 300 and Hub to Hub is at 6.
- In Downloads, change the max transfers to 100 and change the max transfers per file to around 30.
- In eDonkey2000, change the Client Link Connections to about 250 - 500. Depends on your connection really.
In BitTorrent, make sure you Client Connection is about 30-40. This also depends on your connection (I don't suggest BT with Shareaza Plus)
6) The XP Connection Limit
If you have Windows XP SP2, there is a connection limit that Microsoft added due to many possibilities of worms ect.
Yes, SP2 does cause problems with Shareza and all P2P programs because the number of half open connections is only limited to 10. Use this patch here and change it to 100 (recommended) or your desired number. But remember, too many open connections can cause worms to spread very fast. I recommend actually above 100, about 200-300 because you can connect to many quick sources.
Click this link, download the patch and run it. - http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/attachme...6&d=1134410575
7) Select the Networks to connect to
Now in the program itself, under Network > Choose Networks, select all three of them to get the best results whilst searching. Also I suggest you switch to power mode for the next step.
8) Connect and Query your Servers and Hubs
Press F8 and double click as many servers you wish to connect to. A good 5-10 is all you need. Press F9 and Right Click > Query as many of these as you also wish, the more the better for your results.
9) And your rolling!
That's pretty much it Click the search button and start looking for music. If you have any problems at all, just let me know.
Brilliant :D
Though the f8 thing won't work till you have already used it before hand :)
do you have to restart after patching with lvllord.de patch?
nevermind, found my answer

Sam Winchester: They were just doing their job.
Dean Winchester: No, they were doing our job, only they don't know it so they suck at it.

No harm? heh i guess you really do not understand it, setting Leaf to Hub to 3 is already nothing less than HARM. 2 is enough because G2 use UDP for search from your side and receive search result. TCP is basically used for receive Search, send out Search result, get more Node IPs from neighbours (too many of connection can cause BIG bandwidth waste with EXCHANGE and may cause your HOSTCASHE to lose management of searched node and non-searched node.)Originally Posted by Auggie2k
only G1 have effect of meny neighbour = more result. but not G2.
Ah, ok so some Noobs not even knowing it properly put some Wrong info as a Guide?Originally Posted by Auggie2k
Excuse you, who do you think you are? I made up this guide from information on a different site so don't go trying to start something when I already explained I didn't detail this. Do you think that maybe, just maybe the originator of this guide might of typo-ed the 2 as a 3, ever think of that? And I'm no bloody noob. And I also quoted this...
Do you SEE anyone posting here with problems?Originally Posted by Auggie2k
I know it quite good because im doing some Coding on "Shareaza" core code, not ShareazaPlus, and i know that if every one start do connect to 3 neighbour, there are a lot of Performance down on entire network, specially RouteCacue are easy to gets Filled on Hubs and will cause Download From PUSH nodes.Originally Posted by Auggie2k
the setting for 3 is only there for very very unstable network, but not for every one.
I followed all the directions on this guide...and i still cant get shareaza to connect. having the same problem with ares, limewire and everything else i have tried except bearshare. any ideas?
Shareaza Plus is a copy of a old alpha version of Shareaza with some settings changed although they have changed the version to 2.3.0.0 and if I remember correctly it is no longer updated.
