    Very sudden download problems

For ages now I've been able to get BT to work brilliantly, using my full connection, now suddenly today, I start having major problems.

For a start utorrent is suddenly acting very strangely. When it is open, even if it's downloading and uploading at less than 1 kB/s, my internet becomes unusable. It takes minutes for pages to webpages to load in any web browser. However, if I use azureus that doesn't happen and I can browse happily. It only affects utorrent.

Secondly, I'm suddenly getting slow download speeds in utorrent and azureus. My NAT is fine, green lights in both utorrent and azureus and my upload should be fine, a constant speed of 25 kB/s (my max) but my download speed doesn't go over 30 kB/s. This isn't right, I have a 2 meg connection and I usually get speeds of 200 kB/s. There are plenty of seeds so I don't see why i'm getting such a low speed. I should definately be getting over 100 kB/s.

My ISP is BT (UK). I don't think they're bad for bittorent. I'm not using a standard port either - I'm using port 133281.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Is your encryption on?? More people are using it which would slow you down if it is off, since they are encrypting the data as its being uploaded. Or if you have it on, you can only recieve encrypted data from users who are using it. So toggle between the two. Also limit your upload speed to 80percent and tell us what Tracker/site your using.

Not so. The "Allow incoming legacy connections" solves that 'problem' and it's enabled by default in utorrent.

Nah I use them too (8 meg down) and speeds are consistently fast from private BT sites. (Got 830kbs this morning on a TV episode).

    Strange problem.

    LOL, busted!

    Seriously though,

Their customer service is properly shit and they impose a 40gig monthly download limit (after that it's a £1 a gig). The only reason I'm with them is cause of the staff discount.

tbh I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
