Received 4 Copyright Letters From my ISP!

So I've been reading quite a few posts here on ZP about BT and I read one post where a member mentioned that he received an e-mail from his ISP stating that he downloaded an episode of a TV show and I have the same ISP as this member (Comcast). Like 5 minutes after I read that post I thought to myself, I've never even checked my ISP's mail before! The reason why is because I use Gmail. Why would I use Comcast's web based email when I can use Gmail.

Anyways, so I logged in for my first time and I had 5 e-mails, and I was like oh shit. 4 of the emails were from Comcast about copyright movie I was downloading over BT, the other email was just junk from Comcast. All 4 emails were about the same movie! So I immediately opened uTorrent up and cancelled the movie.

Now I use TorrentSpy.com for pretty much everything just cause it's all I've ever known. I've been reading quite a few posts here and people say to use private BT websites? Is that like Gmail use to be, you have to get invited or something?

What ways can I be more safe of downloading and trying not to get caught? I've downloaded about 10movies in the last 3 or 4 days and that one movie I was downloading is the only one that I got notice for. So I'm going to finish off the rest of these downloads that I have going and then maybe move to another BT site.

But I guess I don't really understand BT a whole lot, why would switching sites really matter? LoL all I know how to do is go to a BT site, download the torrent and watch it download. Any tips or sites you guys use that you think are better than TorrentSpy, please let me know!

I just visited demonoid.com and it looks like you do have to have codes/invites. So I guess it is a little safer to use private sites, but not totally safe. Anyways, is there a way someone can invite me to a BT site they like and feel is good/safe? Please PM me for my e-mail addy!

If you can't get invites, I would suggest don't download movies anymore & also use ip blocker as BT shows your IP address to anyone not blocked.

Personally, I use DSL from phone company instead of cable so I've dynamic IP address. Each time, I use BT I've different IP address. Also, I don't download music or movies anymore. Either make it harder for them to find you, or just don't do it anymore!

PowerMan, do you use peerguardian with all blocklists enabled, and if not why not? Use it to at least minimize the chances.

Also, in addition to Peer Guardian, I reccomend the Safe Per plugin available with the Azureus BT Client Server.

    PEER GUARDIAN

Demonoid contains a lot of torrents that are publically available so be weary. Enable encryption now that you use uTorrent.

Encryption only works when your ISP is throttling BT traffic..

Join private, but dont use demonoid. It still lets people upload torrents to public trackers, and the people on the private side will upload to all users that got the torrent from a public site. If i get invites, ill send one your way.

C'mon man, lay off the name-calling. I know you and Mels and exaclty "kosher" but at least dont start with the personal attacks, alright? Edited your post of the name-calling, but left the important stuff for others to read. Whats that saying, "Dont hate the player hate the game"?

Thanks! I would appreciate that. The only private one I belong to now is Demonoid ;-( lol and i guess it's not the best private one to use. So I now must hunt for another private BT site. Please PM me if you do have any invites to other sites you may belong too. Thanks.

Head check please. I really don't know why shawners has such a hard on over my opinion. Everyone has one yadda yadda yadda. I had not commented in this thread and Im sure the insults flew in my dirrection anyway, thats why shawners is on ignore. Ive held back long enough. I openly implore the mods to set this right if it continues. Despite my best efforts to apply tact to this situation enough is enough.
