    utorrent help

Hi, I'm having a few problems with the speed of my downloads in utorrent. I have got a torrent from a private tracker with a good amount of seeds, but still the download speed only reaches a max of around 19 kB/s. I have also lowered the upload limit for the download speed to not be affected as much as possible. Can someone please help me? Thanks.

Are you behind a router? If so have you forwarded your ports? Have you tried change your port value (to like 16886)

EDIT: You don't need to lower your upload speed to try affect your download speed, they don't clash.

No, I'm not behind a router, and thanks for the extremely fast reply.

Ok, change your ports to 16886 in uTorrent (like guide on port forward) and add these ports your your firewall if you have one, most likely you have the XP Firewall so add them to the exceptions list. Also make sure your download speed is not accidentally limited.

Nope, no difference, and I've turned the windows firewall off anyways, but allowed it through my mcafee firewall.

Try disabling the McAfee firewall (temporarily) and giving it another go. Also check the torrent details and see what the entire speed of the torrent is (for all downloaders) How many seeders and peers are you talking about that your connected to?

I'm connected to about 20/21 seeders and the disabling of the firewall didn't help either.

What's your ISP? What kind of speeds have you got before? What's the private site?

Well, I used to get around 200kB/s and a little more, which is my max limit when I was using bitcomet but a lot private trackers have banned it so I started using utorrent but never really got high enough speeds. I'm using the torrent-damage site and my ISP is Toucan from the UK.

Maybe try enabling encryption? It's worth a shot.
A couple of sites I've been working on if you're interested http://www.howtogetfaster.co.uk, [url]http://www.documentaries.me.uk[url] and a new startup http://thelocalseo.co

@Auggie2k, the fair usage policy only applies in peak times, and I was downloading in off-peak times, where no rules as such apply.

@thepuzzler, hmm, and how do you do that?
