In the most recent in a series of online controversies to take on the mainstream media, a series of Web sites discredited a Reuters photograph of the fighting in Lebanon, forcing the news agency to issue an apology and remove the image from their archives.
The photograph by Adnan Hajj, which shows plumes of smoke rising from downtown Beirut after an IAF bombing, appeared to have been doctored to show more intense smoke and destruction over the city.
The Reuters news agency issued a statement acknowledging that "photo editing software was improperly used on this image. A corrected version will immediately follow this advisory. We are sorry for any inconvenience."
Reuters' head of PR Moira Whittle said that "Reuters has suspended a photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to a photograph showing smoke billowing from buildings following an air strike on Beirut. Reuters takes such matters extremely seriously as it is strictly against company editorial policy to alter pictures."

Wow, I always thought Reuters was more trustworthy than AP.
Now I don't trust either!
Like it isn't done all the time.

I don't feel so bad now "borrowing" their news.

news is just propoganda, the impartial reporter or agency no longer exsists

Yep, ever since we went to this 24 hour nes cycle the media outlets, in an attempt to fill up airtime, switched over to NEWS ANALYSIS. Now the news is no longer where one is given the information to form their own opinion, and instead given an opinion in the form of news.Originally Posted by moneoa
This probably why the news thats people in the Middle East get is so frightening sometimes as they have oftentimes only one news outlet: Al Jazeera. Think about, we have like a dozen here and people still have whacked out and skewed opinion that oftentimes still suffers from a lack of credible facts and data. Imagine if we only had one? Its another reason why people in the Middle East just dont get it sometimes as they are plagued by a chronic shortage of all pertinent facts and details.
More sources doesn't mean much either, if it is still censored or edited by few people. It is up to the us to check the sources, then make our own opinion or truth. These days, I don't see them as "News" anymore just "Their Story(ies)"!
Hell why watch the "news" when you can watch a rerun of Seinfeld?

Very true, but its only through a multitude of sourcess and assocaited digging and fact checking, sometimes even using them to compare to one another for evidence of bias, that the truth can come out.Originally Posted by DigitalJunkie

LONDON (Reuters) - Reuters withdrew all 920 photographs by a freelance Lebanese photographer from its database on Monday after an urgent review of his work showed he had altered two images from the conflict between Israel and the armed group Hizbollah.
Global Picture Editor Tom Szlukovenyi called the measure precautionary but said the fact that two of the images by photographer Adnan Hajj had been manipulated undermined trust in his entire body of work.
"There is no graver breach of Reuters standards for our photographers than the deliberate manipulation of an image," Szlukovenyi said in a statement.
"Reuters has zero tolerance for any doctoring of pictures and constantly reminds its photographers, both staff and freelance, of this strict and unalterable policy."
The news and information agency announced the decision in an advisory note to its photo service subscribers. The note also said Reuters had tightened editing procedures for photographs from the conflict and apologized for the case.

Here are some more doctored pictures, as the BBC admits to be being biased towards terrorist.Originally Posted by moneoa
Here are some examples (taken by the Red Cross and doctored by the media to get sympathy for terrorists):
Some doctored pictures here
I now know it was only made up.
It was obvious the Lebanon wasn't been destroyed - If only I read the Jerusalem Post earlier :)
That one picture is so badly doctored I dont know how the publishers couldnt know. Its one of the worst examples of clone brush ive seen. Quite frankly newspapers should hire a photo detective to look at the pictures to make sure they are legit.
