I ripped an entire web site to my local drive. It has 346 Folders / 20,969 files and is 13.6 GB.
I have tried 7 ways from Sunday to create a torrent to share out the site with structure intact, but to no avail.
I tried every piece size up to 4MB, but the resulting torrent file is just too large. In any case, while easily possible, I don't think that pieces at 4MB are really practical, are they? Wouldn't they create huge amounts of overhead for the clients and choke?
I tried splitting the site and using three or four different torrents. As long as they are downloaded to the same folder, the site structure should be okay. But even this way, the resulting torrent files were over 5MB each.
I don't think splitting the site into ten or fifteen torrents would be practical. I can't realistically see anyone hunting down all of the torrents or keeping them all seeded.
I don't think RARing or otherwise compressing the site is acceptable, because of its size. Once it's downloaded, I imagine people uncompressing and then discarding the originals without seeding because of the amount of space required.
I am at a loss. :icon_scra
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
about the only thing i can think of is to create the torrent, of the website, then make a torrent of JUST that giant torrent file, then share that second torrent on dump sites :icon_thum
