    I need some help

Ok I need some help here guys :) I downloaded some movie, it has over 70 seeders, yet my download Kb/s is constantly at 20-30 all the time. I have a cable 512kb/s if that helps...If I am missing some good "settings" you guys have then plz post here. I have been downloading this for over 10 hours and its at 40%, its only 2.2 gig. Oh and the smiley face is always yellow and plain face'd. Any help is much appreciated.

    I would use Utorrent!
    I find it much better.
Anyway yes when you are downloading say a very LARGE, NEW, POPULAR file on bittorrent sometime it slows down but remember to keep uploading lot's. Give it time as the torrents Seed/Leecher ratio balences then it will be better.
And sometimes, there are just Slow Seeds!

Also, a 512Kbit connection maxes around 60 unless you are talking 512KB/sec do a speed test here
    www.speakeasy.net/speedtest and post your results

Also of you are behind a router or a NAT (your network is shared amounst 3-4 or more computers) you need to foward ports to tell incoming connections to go to your specific PC to connect.

It's simply because its a public torrent and the seeders aren't being generous. C'mon guy we've seen this a million times.

Just be patient and grateful it's actually downloading, a 2GB+ isn't going to be quick with your internet connection.

If the smiley face is allways yellow, you probably have a firewall problem.

Instead of explaining how, visit this site: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php...Yellow_Smileys

If you have any questions, their FAQ is one of the best. If you still can't figure it out post back.

Yup, at your download cap, you're lucky to be getting the speed you are on a public tracker. Either upgrade your connection to the big boys, use a private tracker, or wait. Those are your options.

Can you suggest a good port so I can foward it to that? (thx)
    the results are
    Last Result:
Download Speed: 3304 kbps (413 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 435 kbps (54.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Sorry the seeder is 20 (180) or somewhere near that...so I thought it would be fast enough to be like 100-200kb/sec. I need help plz i am pretty nooby at this, Thanks in advance :)

Share more and you get more, it is called your ratio, 0.5 to 1 is good. Obviously higher is better. Let your client for awhile even when not downloading and let it run overnight.

Better yet discover Usenet and have the same file in about an hour guaranteed regardless whether you upload or not (based upon the speed numbers you've provided).

Personally I'm using port 10552. I think its the one that was assigned to me randomly by the program. There is an internal NAT/Firewall test that checks to see if your port is clear or not.

The other problem you could be having is that your ISP is limiting you. Check out this page for more info on encryption and ways to bypass ISP's http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php...raffic_shaping

Also, check to see if your ISP is listed here. http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs I found out what I had been figuring all along. Charter limits me if I use too much bandwidth in a certain time.

actually for that line, speeds cant get better, your also uploading which will decrease your overall download speeds and that sends data back in what parts you got or need. TOp speed you should get is 50kb.

I just want to get an idea of how fast if you guys were to dl my stuff right now...the dl speed is at 10-20 kb/sec.
also, it asks me if i want to keep blocking/dont block/ask later when I open azureus. Should I unblock to get dl speed faster?

    You stated your speeds at

Download Speed: 3304 kbps (413 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 435 kbps (54.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

For the record you have a 3 megabit connection not a 512 kb's(based on the numbers you've given).

I've found utorrent to be the best. With a high ratio I can get 50-200 (which is still well within your range) depending on the file, seeders, leechers, etc.... Try limiting your upload to 5 KB bellow your limit and see if this helps but be aware limiting your upload to much will effect your download speeds as well. Also alot of leechers is not necessarily a bad thing. They must share as well. Just make sure there is at least one seeder (obviously the higher number the better).

Above all share enough to keep your ratio above .50 but obviously the higher the number the faster you'll download.

To increase your share ratio, you may want to open more slots for each torrent. I set my to open 10 slots for each torrent with option to open more slots if upload speed does not reach the full total upload speed limit, which means at least ten people will be able to download from me on each torrent.

So, you want to connect to as many seeders as you can, but with more leechers you are connected you'll also get more download from leechers when those seeders can't give you any download at times. Just remember, in almost all cases, there are more leechers than seeders available!
