Help with no audio for movie

So i have bit torrent and i dowloaded an .avi movie that only works, with sound, in the VLC player i need help burning the movie because when i first burned it it had no sound and when i tried to use the GSpot program it showed that i didn't need any things like a codec or anything like that sooo please HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

How did you burn the movie? Sounds like the player you used to play the burned movie does not support the audio codec. My player gives a "unsupported audio codec" error message on the tv screen. You will have to take the audio and re-encode it into a format that your player supports. If i'm right at all..? shit, i confuse myself.....

I think dvd are 48khz and svcd/xvid is 44.1. Are you burning the xvid to play on a dvd player that plays divx?? You may need to update the player with new firmware, i do believe audio is now VBR which can cause a problem. I would use nero vision express to convert to dvd, and before burning. Play it with POWER DVD, and post results here.

So i used nero to burn and when i played the movie that i burned in power dvd it did fine except there was no sound but, when i played the movie directly from the file on my comp it worked perfectly with sound. So if this gives u guys more info to help me out plaese do it is much needed and appreciated

You'll need to decompress the audio to PCM format, then re-encode the audio. Use the original AVI file with AVI Audio Decompressor. AVI Audio Decompressor does not extract the audio, but it decompress the audio part so the new decompressed AVI can be use to convert to DVD format!

If AVI Audio Decompressor can not, there is another free program called AVI2WAV. It "extract" the audio to MP3 format (not WAV), so you will need to change the file's extension! Then, use your audio player such as WinAmp or MusicMatch to convert MP3 to WAV format. After that, use the new WAV file as your audio source to convert to DVD format!

So, i used the program called avi2vcd and used the audio decompressor and nothing happened when i played the movie striaght from my computer the sound was not there but, it made it like 300,000 kb bigger

I've checked those AVI files, both CD1 & CD2 are encoded with AC-3 audio format which AVI Audio Decompressor should decompress just fine! Unless, you've downloaded different AVI files.

AVI2VCD is an outdated program, not what I'd recommend. AVI2WAV is an audio extraction tool.

sorry way too much work for me i give up and am going to delete the movies, thanks for the help anyways though!!!

If you don't like the idea of converting downloaded videos, you should research on cheap stand-alone DivX compatible DVD player than can play both regular DVDs & DivX/XviD encoded files. "No More Work"!!
