    new video card

After upgrading to 384 MB of Ram (happy enuff with that much), I am now currently ready to upgrade my video card. I mean my video card is crap. It's an intergrated 32 MB S3 ProSavage card that came with my comp. I've seen it in action and it does poorly. It does a terrible job of redering 3-D graphics. When I play GTA 3, if I make a sudden sharp turn the road will become glossed over and if there is a wall I can't see it until after I hit it. That's just not cool. Now I'm in the market for a new video card and I don't want the best of the best. No, I am looking more for a good quality medium ranged price video card. I've been looking at 64 MB ATI Radeons because they seem to provide more bang for the buck compared to Nvidia. Don't get me wrong, I like Nvidia, I just don't have the $ for that rite now. Somewhere in the $100-160 area should be good. I have been specifically looking at the ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 7500s. Are Radeons good quality? I just need some suggestions. Draw from personal experiences and knowledge that you have and if possible mayby suggest a few for me. Benchmark tests and the like are also helpful. I haven't had much experience with video cards and I don't wanna make the wrong choice so any suggestions are welcome. Oh btw I am running Win XP 2600 build and I have an HP Pavilion 7935 w/ an AMD Athlon @ 1.3 GHZ and a 40 gig hard drive.

You should be able to pick up a GeForce 3 for that much money, and you would be happier in the long run.

radeons are awesome. i'm running a 8500 64mb (straight up, none of this LE crap). I've never had a problem with it. Do you really want an All-In-Wonder 7500? The 8500 smokes it every game.

Do you have an AGP slot? Don't see much OEM PC's with AGP slots.....so check before you drop cash on a card that's AGP.....if your stuck with PCI....then I'd say pick up an ATI AIW PCI 32mb or 64mb card.....the price is decent an you get a TV tuner an capture an all that extra shit plus it has some extra shit in the ATI chip that makes DVD video look even better - provided you have a DVD ROM...

Nvida card's don't really shine unless you use an AGP model....since there tactics are brute force.....IE....need more bandwidth for the textures in ram....make a card that runs 4x AGP! make the ram fast as fuck ect ect ect.

ATI takes the slick approach they came up with that hyper Z shit that compresses textures an kicks them out as a smaller package then uses code on the chip to decode it bit by bit to keep the memory needed down to a minimum.....sort of like a DivX video....or an MP3.

Anyway...go with a decent cheap all around ATI....I've been happy with the 2 I've used....but be aware! There drivers suck most if not all the time.

Running ATI RADEON 128 MEG With tv-Out,
TV out works painlessly with no headaches, unlike NVidia cards, had a GeForce 3 Ti 500, TV out refused to work without special software to activate it on the chips bios ughh.

With my current setup, My ATI 8500 128 meg smoked my GeForce,RADEON Scored about 10,000 on 3d mark 2001SE
using the standard settings. In some respects the 8500 is on par with the geForce 4 (Dont ask which model as they have a million different lines including the NEW X.R ULTRA HYPER DELUXE CARNIVORE bloodletting Ti 50,000 3rd rendition edition R-type V-spec plus, with quantimizer) The ATI cards are great quality, but they do have some VERY monir graphical glitches at times, Nothing prolonged, just a flicker on your HUD every now and then, But the new catalyst drivers(Spelling?) Rock hard LOL
I am running an AMD Atholon XP 1400+ with 256 megs of SD RAM and get between 50-80+FPS on UT 2003. It is a very powerfull card, you really cant go wrong with an ATI or Nvidia, but Nvidia is expensive, as you get get my model ATI RADEON 8500LE 128 meg online for about 90 dollars.

I would personally go with nvidia, try checking www.pricewatch.com or www.half.com

the detonator xp 4.x series drivers are awesome, they dont lie when they say up to 25% increase over normal windows driver

for ease of use and stability, i would still pick nvidia, my tv out works great, and my old card (32meg TNT2 Pro) is still working for every new game ive tried, not many cards can live up to that.....

with wrap around heat sink, good for overclocking...
    simply awesome.

and i agree, nvidia's drivers are updated more often, and are all around just better at improving specs....

    take a look..
