I'm sure this has been asked before, but i wasn't there so I shall ask now. Is it possible to link a PC up with an X-Box over LAN to play multiplayer? (My friend says it's not, but I'm not entirely positive about that answer.)

How about a way to network your 360 so your PC see's it as another PC in network connections
(you know to transfer music and files straight and not through some proprietary MS shit)
I would like to play music and movies off my xbox harddrive without using Xbox live or some silly media streaming shit

Xplorer360 can do this. You can get it at http://www.360gamesaves.com/
It is not Illegal or copyrighted so I think I'm allowed to post the link here.
Be Aware it might void your warrenty so use at your own risk.
Wait - so does it link games? Hold on - I'll try it out.

If I understand your question correctly I believe the answer is no. Some games allow multiple systems to be linked together without any additional software (AKA Halo). You need a crossover Ethernet cable to link two systems together or a standard Ethernet cable if you have a hub. Up to 16 players can play on a single map in Halo using four consoles.
If the game does not allow networking of systems natively then neither Xplorer360 or any other software I am aware can force a game to network unless there's a specific patch or hack for that game.
Xplorer360 is simply a file manager with many additional cool features but I don't believe it networks games.
on original xbox, every cosole had the have same game and be updated through live to have same version working.. Thats why i loved the mod chip. I could own a game, make a backup for the other xbox and play head to head.
I guess it was worth a try - thanx. :icon_thum

do you get an xbox emulator for p.c?? coz then maybe you could lanan xbox with a pc that way ...?
XBOX via system link is a must for LAN parties. However connecting with your PC can only be used to stream etc.
