    Why is limewire dead ?

Limewire had troubles with the court, but they could develop to something senseful with p2p

    they could implement
    - p2p java search engine yacy.net
    - p2p java messenger alliancep2p.com

they even could code kademlia 2.0 from emule in java to do something senseful in the meantime...

Limewire is the most active P2P program in development, it will never be dead because it is open source.
That's why there is Frostwire, Phex and Cabos all based on Limewire's open source code.

Limewire had trouble in court and was ask to filter copyrighted material from the searches, so far LimeWire has not did that. But if Limewire does then open source developers (like Frostwire, Cabos, and Phex) can remove the filter from the core.
