    Clicking Download File Launches Napster.com

Hello, I have a very strange problem in Limewire. Well I let my friend sleep over the other night cuz he got locked outta his house... big mistake. He mustve done something to my computer, because now when I click on certain files to download in Limewire, my browser launches and opens napster.com. I tried getting the latest version of limewire too, but to no avail. This only happens on certain files. There doesn't seem to be a pattern, and there is no way to tell which files are legit and which arent. Think its spyware?? But would napster put out something like that? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Ask your friend what he was doing on your computer... that might help guide you in the right direction anyways.

It doesn't consistently happen with certain files as opposed to other files? Just random?

Sounds like some spyware / adware redirecting you with a referral url to make some $$$. Either that or you are clicking on .url results and opening up a shortcut. Try running a spyware scan with one of these:

Yes, Frostwire would be a good choice.

Are you trying to add downloads by hashlinks? If so, when the download box comes up that asks you whether you want to "open with" or "save to disk", beside "open with" what is selected? If its another program besides Limewire, switch it back to Limewire.

Thats the only thing that I can think of that may be causing this sort of problem. Its very strange

I had the same problem starting the other day.

    I have no spyware.

It's something imbedded within Limewire as far as I can tell. Must be some type of exploit or something that somone has found.

Like you, it only does it on some files and there appears to be no common reason why.

They are fake files containing a link . If there is something unusual about a file i.e.,many files with large numbers of hosts, or many files of the exact same size, then it is probably a fake.
