Windows Explorer crashes evertime I open it

I get a message

explorer.exe Application Error

The instruction at " " referenced memory at " ". The memory could not be "read"

whats wrong?

Do a RAM test first!

One of my other pcs has just started doing that,
i carn't even use a different explorer because they all just die with an error on start up, FOOLS!
I'll try the RAM test or i might just reinstall windows... again hell its been all of what? 3 months!

My guess is someting has attached itself to IE and is causing this.

1)First run a spyware check using Adawre http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html or your favorite spyware checking program.

2)Run A virus scan if that doesnt help.

If either of those to fail try
3) If you have your Windows disc, run system file checker. Click "start" then click on "run" and type in sfc /scannow and follow the instructions.


Most commenly this is caused because activex has let something attach itself to IE or you may have added a toolbar or somethings thats caused IE to become unstable. A spyware check should take care of that.

Last resort, roll back to a earlier date if you cant fix it and if its not your RAM.
