So, here's the situation:
At present, my only internet access is via the university. It's good- fast connection, etc., but the computers are pretty thoroughly locked down. Most file-sharing programs have to write to the registry or something, so they won't install. Ares did, but the admins have blocked out its ability to connect. Essentially I need a program that's pretty much an extract-only install and that can get past the firewall.
Does such a program even exist?
do a search. there is many threads on this subject. also google has a wealth of knowledge on http tunneling.

Long ago when there wasnt much resources on laptops and i think it was before the 1 gig hard drive.. I use to use mIRC on a 1.4disc.. Chances are that they may block ports or wont allow internet connections that have file sharing apps going through them.. THey may either packet sniff, throttle, or even block the regular ports that it resides on. Just install a program on the pc, then burn that folder onto a cd rom and try doing it that way.
