    Internet Explorer Prob

ok so i use Internet explorer now and used to as well in the past, a bit ago i installed firefox to check it out didnt like so i went bak to IE. the problem im having is i looks like windows doesnt know IE is the supposed to be the default app example,
when someone sends me a link in messenger it no longer opens a page i have to manualy copy the link and paste into addy bar. same with Utorrent, when i go to run test to chek ports nothing loads anymore.
how do u reset IE to be default or am i way off here. thx in advance

Just open IE, under Tools > Programs settings check the box for ask to be default browser. Next time when you open IE, it will ask to be default browser!

Firefox takes a lttle while to get used to. I've been using it for so long, I don't even remember how to use IE. Just give it some time, I'm sure you'll love it!!

I think a reinstall of Internet Explorer is in order.

The ability to Repair Internet Explorer does not exist in the version that ships with Windows XP. This feature only becomes available after you upgrade to a newer version. This is normal and has been this way since Windows 98 and IE4.

However, you can reinstall IE in Windows XP by clicking Start, Run and entering the following command:

    rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf

You will need to have your XP CD available.

Some people have problems with the command line above. A small VB Script that will execute the command for you can be downloaded here. Save the file to your hard drive and double click it to run IE Setup.

    My Computer
    Tools
    Folder Options
    File Types
    Scroll down and click HTM

In the box down below is a dialog that says something along the lines of "Opens With" If it says Firefox (or anything other than Internet Explorer), click the Change button.

Scroll down the list of programs and click Internet Explorer. Be sure the "Always Use The Selected Program" is checked. Click OK

Repeat the above to make sure HTML is also choosing Internet Explorer.

    Reboot.

    Presto.

Firefox is a better browser (in my opinion), but sometimes you need Internet Explorer to display some pages correctly.
