Bearshare Lite

I have bearshare lite, it's easy to use but the other day I noticed my friend and I have the same broadband connection speed, and it's maximum download speed is around 110 KBPS.
I set bearshare up for him the other day and when downloading a file I noticed all 4 connectivity dots were green, and his files download from bearshare at 110 KBPS, envious, I tried to sort my problem out, I download off bearshare at around 10 - 30 KBPS, and I noticed that the last dot is yellow.

I tried to sort this problem out the other day, I went to portforward.com and did the tutorial and I 'opened' the port or something and it hasn't improved my connectivity at all, I'm sure I've done something wrong.
So could someone please be kind enough to walk me through EXACTLY how to do it from scratch.
I know how to access my wireless router and add the port settings etc.

My wireless router is eTec PT-3818.
I have a 2.2 MBPS broadband connection.
Windows XP home edition, service pack 2.
And I'm using a laptop.

Anyway, i'd not recommend you use BearShare Lite anymore since they're settled for $30 Million, iMesh will soon own BearShare, i'd find another P2P app ...

umm I guess limewire would be good for you if you like the gnut network I think its poo myself but meh

maybe you should join the uber leet usernet its of all the same files but...you pay for them...eh sounds good right :)

Hve you tried the "gnut" network lately? Its the best network hands down and Ive tried most of them myself
