    Microsoft Windows Mobile Devices

Anyone got any suggestion of the cheapest way to use Microsoft Windows Mobile Devices to access the internet? I would prefer if you give me uk links.

Sorry i can't be more detailed, I am just looking to purchase a PDA or something similar so I can use the net whenever I want. Is that possible at a reasonable price?

Buy any Pocket PC 2002 or higher out there and you will be able to access the internet. The cheapest way would be to buy a cheap device such as the Dell Axim x5 (the 300mhz version) and buy a seperate wireless card (such as the Dell TrueMobile). Then all you need is a wireless network.

You can get the Pocket PC itself for about $150 and the WiFi card for another $20.

Once I buy a wifi card, how do I exactly get the internet? Do I have to hunt for places with Wifi connectivity?

I already have wireless internet at home and presumed I could use it there, however, I was looking for a service that I could use when im out and about, so I can stay connected to msn messenger for example.

Um, I guess you would need a monthly subscription of some kind to be connected at all times, but if your in an area with alot of wifi hotspots you could connect to those with a wifi enabled pda.

I'm pretty excited about the Motorola "Q" phone...

    http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/002134.html

It runs MS mobile, takes mini SD memory, decent camera, all the bells and whistles, plus it's thin like a RAZR phone!

    >>> These are my five phones. Oh yeah. You know you wanna clicky-clicky. <<<

    Part 1: My reviews:

HTC Wizard (T-Mobile MDA): You want a phone that dominates the sidekick and any other pda phone (available in america) hands down? Windows Mobile 5 (this is the latest). The PDA is fuckin sweet, it has QuadBand GSM, WiFi 802.11g, EDGE, Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP (stereo bluetooth) and OBEX, Java. Slide out keyboard. MiniSD. This phone is the fuckin bomb. $49 after rebates on a 1-yr T-Mobile contract @ letstalk.com. Highly reccomended. Loaded, loaded fuckin phone. Oh, also Push email and Exchange email support, very professional. Oh, and pocket Word, Excel and PowerPoint preloaded...

N-Gage QD: I don't fuckin care what bullshit people say about the N-Gage QD, they probably dont fuckin have one and dont know how amazing the games are for a cell phone (like a PS1, definately). I mean, its a so-so phone, but christ, this thing should have been a revolution. Nit-pickers. I kill the battery dead regularly playing games for hours.

Motorola V635: If you want a phone as a nice phone, THIS is the phone to have. Very fuckin nice. GREAT reception. QuadBand GSM, EDGE, Bluetooth 1.2 with OBEX, Java MicroSD (TransFlash) with 1GB+ support. T9 works very well, as its Motorola "iTap" which is much nicer than regular T9. Import only.

Motorola V551: A nice free phone, QuadBand GSM, EDGE, Bluetooth 1.1 with OBEX, Java. Very nice free phone, very nice. Also has the enhanced "iTap" style T9 texting.

Nokia 3120b: Shitty Tri-Band GSM phone. Gets decent reception, but no features whatsoever. Has Java but very, very, very limited memory. Shitty T9. Good battery life.

All phones are unlocked and latest firmware (except N-Gage, i gotta send that in if i want latest FW), of course.

    Part 2: Cheapest internet:

The HTC Wizard (T-Mobile MDA) supports connecting to free 802.11g hotspots, and also has WEP/WPA support. Also, T-Mobile has their T-Zones for $5.99/mo for unlimited WAP browsing (only a select few ports are open, and its the slower GPRS ~56k speeds only, but $5.99/mo is crazy cheap).

Or you can get the blackberry data addon plan for $19.99/mo for unlimited EDGE surfing, with no restrictions on port or anything. Its wide open web.

To get T-Zones on it, you gotta call in and lie and say you have a different phone (Motorola V330, for example).
To get Blackberry data addon on it, you gotta call in and lie and say you have the blackberry.

Then just set up the proper data settings, and voila!
