New soundcard magically turns the pc back on...

My friends pc is acting up. He just installed a new sound card and now when he shuts his pc off it turns itself back on. Now my guess is either it's haunted or maybe some kind of power issue maybe. Hopefully someone can help out. Don't really have any specs on his pc unfortunately.

I know if I was a new sound card, I'd want to be heard.

How dare you turn me off!

It is hard to believe that a sound card could be responsible for turning a computer back on. Probably a faulty poower supply or it has something to do with the motherboard. But a sound card in and of itself could not turn a computer on or off...... that I know of.

I'm just guessing, but I've seen people's pc's power switch got stuck at ON position so the computer keeps turning itself back on until it got unstuck.

    Hi Black_Magiic,

Enter the PC's bios, and turn off "wake on LAN" and "Wake on ring". If the power button was stuck, the PC would shut off and on over and over. Just turn off the automatic start capabilities in the BIOS. That should fix the prob.

Good suggestion! It is either a stuck power switch that keeps telling the motherboard BIOS to turn on and off automatically, or it is something screwed up with the power supply.

    Don't we all.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone I'll see if I can walk him through the bios thing. Failing that he'll just have to live with it I guess.

My pc keeps downloading porn without me having to do anything. What a great machine I have! The only trouble is its all midget porn and chicks with dicks. Ive looked throught the bios and have not found any setting to change it to big boobs and thick chicks. Any help?
