I was just thinking of reinstalling Windows on a seperate partition all for internet connected stuff. This way my big partition won't suffer Any bugs etc.
I was wondering if i could download into the other partitions.
Anyone have any configurations that work for them?
I have 2 hard drives.
1. 200 gig 2 partitions C: 40 gigs just for windows. D: 160 gigs is for media. my downloads, works in progress, rip and burn, etc go here.
2. 160 gig 1 partition E: just for "storage"

I have a 120gig harddrive for my operating system and six external hard drives, all over 250gigs. You could call me a seasoned pirate.

if the other partitions are formatted as NTFS or FAT they should automatically mount as drive letters in windows, which means they really aren't safe from viruses, you would be better off running that stuff from another windows account with limited privlidges.

Thanks for the suggestions and dang Andromedon.
My plan was to install Windows twice one for the net and one for "heavier" computing which would stay totally clean. The major disadvantage to this is rebooting to get to the other OS. My other plan which I'm leaning toward is to just use and old computer I have for net stuff, only I'll find a better way to transfer files than on a usb camera with a 512mb sd card.
