    Power Flickered...

Earlier today the power flickered and my computer restarted.

My cookies were deleted and my mail account settings were messed up (Thunderbird).

I haven't discovered anything else that's off, but should I be aware of anything serious that could be wrong that I don't know about yet?

I have had this happen quite a few times with no adverse affects, other than the ones you mentioned. Its quite common with an improper shutdown, IE power failure.

was this a power failure attributed to a power outage like during an electrical storm or some other external factor?
if there was no power storm...no one working on ur powerlines....no power search from airconditioning unit coming on....and it was caused just by ur pc randomly it could mean your power supply aka 'psu' or powr supply unit is failing.

but if ur just asking if something else might be screwed due to the affect its hard to say. I dunno is my best answer to that..more than likely there is or was something else mussed up by this you'll be aware of it sooner or later. chances are 1/2 and 1/2.

I can't remember any problems off hand with improper shutdowns affecting the things u mentioned tho..i do know windows sometimes stores certain pieces of information in memory which it usually writes to your harddrive either on shutdown or reboot.perhaps ur cookie information was still in memory and hadn't been saved yet?

Some websites will log you out after a certain set amount of inactivity..usually 900seconds..some will log u out as soon as their window is closed....can u be more specific as to what was mussed with ur email settings.

sorry this is all the help i can give u.

We just had a local transformer blow up in the city. Something like 46,000 to 48,000 people were without power for like an hour and a half. Some of the areas are still out. Traffic was a bitch.

By "the power" I meant "the power in my entire apartment" flickered. It wasn't just my computer being a POS. I have no idea why it happened though... it was the first sunny weather we've had in a while.

As for my email settings, it's not recognizing the account it was anymore... if that makes sense.

    Power flickered?
Don't worry my brain does that all the time. Luckily I've got a kick activated generator in my mouth, that usually get's it going again.
And on that note, congrats on the graduation, hopefully some day I'll be able to say the same.
Warning: Any advice given by me is off the top of my head not googled, I Ieave that to you. As such it is quite prone to brain farts and other inaccuracies, use at your own risk.

Software? Sorry officers no software here, I only have hardware!
