Hi guys.
I've been developing a simple Java application for sharing files online.
It's totally free and has a number of features including:
- Provides access to files on your hard disk from any device on the Internet.
- Supports multiple user accounts for controlling who can browse and download.
- A simple interface for sharing specific files and folders.
- Dynamically created ZIP files to aid downloading multiple files.
- Automatic thumbnails when browsing through image folders.
- Automatic playlists for streaming audio.
- Support for uploading files of any size.
- A maximum transfer rate for each user can be configured.
- Visually see which files are being accessed.
- Can serve files securely using SSL. (128bit encryption)
- Supports plugins for generating dynamic content.
- Quick download - Less than 150KB in size!
- Single click deployment using Java WebStart technology.
Anyway, check out the website http://mydisk.co.uk it's dead easy to launch if you already have Java installed.
Any comments are welcome, I know it's no peer to peer solution, but many people have found it useful. Particularly for uploading large files from remote computers.
Thanks,
Mike.
I just checked it out and it looks great. Does it keep updating the site with the current IP?
Edit - It doesn't recognize my hard disks, only my removable media.
Yes, every 5 minutes.
How are your hard disks configured? all drives (excluding a: and b:) should be visible.
Mike.
It would be great if you could. Although I'm having a few problems with my hosting company, 123 reg, which means that every 15 minutes http://mydisk.co.uk appears to be offline.
Looks interesting, thanks a lot mjg7.
Windows is installed on D: and I have 2 other hard disks (one 40 gb partitioned actually) as C: and E:Originally Posted by mjg7
I get this error multiple times for each hard disk when i click the modify button for a user.
I've been looking into this issue and it seems Java Web Start is at fault. - it only affects some machines however:Originally Posted by NinjaDuck

Maybe you could try installing the latest Java Runtime Environment if you have not done so already?
I will keep looking for a fix though, because I bet you will not be the only person suffering with this issue.
Thanks for letting me know,
Mike.
I checked the version and it's JRE 5.0 Update 6, which, according to the Sun site, is the latest version.
Thanks for looking into it.
Major updates have been made to MyDiskServer.
