Carphone offers FREE 8Mbps broadband service

Carphone Warehouse has offered its customers "free" broadband internet access, appearing to significantly undercut competitors' tariffs.

Customers, however, must still pay £11 each month for line rental through its Talk Talk landline service. The service is being seen as a major challenge to BT and NTL, which have around 2.3 million and 2.8 million broadband customers respectively.

Carphone has had to resell BT's wholesale broadband product but is now investing £60 million to install its own equipment in 1,000 BT exchanges - known as local loop unbundling - allowing access to around 70 per cent of the population.

Ok, so let’s put it out basic for you.

for £20.99 per month you get:
    - FREE Up To 8Mbps Broadband (40GB Usage per month, not strict)
    - FREE Unlimited local and national landline calls within the UK.
    - FREE Unlimited international calls to 28 countries.
    - FREE Modem
    - 18 month contract
    - £29.99 one off connection fee

£11 of the £20.99 is line rental which will be paid to TalkTalk not BT so you won't have to pay any extra money, so simply putting it you'll be charged £20.99 for all the above, no catch.

They don't shape network traffic; they don't block newsgroups or P2P ports.

Website seems to be down at the moment, prob due to a high number of visitors.

Nice for a normal user. I however, would have to cut back seriously on my dvd downloads. Ha ha
Sounds like a great service though.
