Question IE 6 Really slow browsing

    Hello Everyone,

For some time now, my IE has been taking ages just to load a simple page such as yahoo or google. I did run all the virus scan and spyware removal tools and my system seems to be clean.

I usually rely on Firefox anyway but just bothers me that my IE6 is so slow.

Anyone got any clue what the problem could be?

Try uninstalling any toolbars, like yahoo or google. Go to Microsoft Updates- http://update.microsoft.com scan and install all updates. Microsoft Updates will usually solve most IE problems if there isn't any malware involved.

Sometimes your own virus and spyware tools can become corrupted by the very thing you're trying to prevent. So if nothing else is giving you results, I recommend doing an online scan for these pests.

I'd download IE7 beta and see what happens.Worst case scenario is you have a much better browser loading slowly.

Internet Explorer is just naturally slow. I personally wouldn't bother using it unless you absolutely have to. Just stick with Firefox.

Actually. . Are you using any P2P network? Maxing out upload speed wil slow browser down, even if your not downloading.

Microsoft on Tuesday released a "critical" Internet Explorer update that fixes 10 vulnerabilities in the Web browser, including a high-profile bug that is already being used in cyberattacks. The Redmond, Wash., software giant sent out the IE megafix as part of its monthly Patch Tuesday cycle of bulletins. In addition, Microsoft delivered two bulletins for "critical" Windows flaws, one for an "important" vulnerability in Outlook Express and one for a "moderate" bug in a component of FrontPage and SharePoint.
"This patch release is a big one with lots of aftershocks," said Jonathan Bitle, a product manager at security company Qualys. "Three of the five updates, the IE and Windows updates, are especially critical as they take advantage of inexperienced users...Although a worm epidemic is unlikely, users can be easily enticed to visit malicious Web pages."
Eight of the 10 vulnerabilities repaired by the IE update could be abused to gain complete control over a Windows computer running vulnerable versions of the Web browser. In all instances, an attacker would have to create a malicious Web site and trick people into visiting that site to hook into a PC, Microsoft said in its Security Bulletin MS06-013.

    Are those for IE6?
I'm running IE7.Autoupdates are set on the notify but don't install setting.I didn't get a notification so I went to the microsoft update page.It listed 5 updates available, none of which were for IE7.

Cleaning out your tempoary internet files folder as well as your history folder can sometimes help a little. You can also check out this little reg patch:

Description: Web Patches - faster loading of Web Pages

The following patch increases Web page loading speed, by doubling the number of possible concurrent open connections. For example, imagine a web page has 20 images and some text - in order for your browser to get all these files, it opens 2 or 4 concurrent connections, depending on the Web server. Increasing the number of open connections allows for faster retrieving of the data. Please note that the patch sets some values outside of the HTML specs. If you decide to install it, backup your Registry first. Changes will take effect after you reboot.

Patch for Win2K and XP http://www.speedguide.net/files/sg_webtweak_2k.zip

Unfortunally, there is no revert patch. I have used it before and it does do what it says it does
    What A Twist!
