    brain dead

    iam trying to use utorrent but being almost brain dead when it comes to port mapping, forwarding, firewall configuration i am afraid that i will get into trouble with changing my settings i can follow the directions OK 0n the westall port forwarding help page but iam wary that i will do irreversible harm if i start the process can i just go back and reverse what i did and bring my computer back to the original or am i a little paranoid

    Punctuation helps people a lot when it comes to trying to figure out your problem.

    If you are using uTorrent it actually does a port scan first to ensure that the needed port is open. You only have to take action if it is not.

    Anyway, if you follow the directions there [westall site] you shouldn't really screw anything up. It's not like you are going to go through the rest of your ports and systematically block them. All you should affect is the actual port you reconfigure.

    So you gone to portforwarding.com and look at your router to know how to change it?? Once you input the exe file to give access and port number. Put those numbers in the uTorrent settings. And your done.

    If only there were a guide to this somewhere...
    Warning: Any advice given by me is off the top of my head not googled, I Ieave that to you. As such it is quite prone to brain farts and other inaccuracies, use at your own risk.

    Irreversible harm to what?If it's Utorrent you're worried about,just reinstall it if theres a problem.If you're worried about the westell,there is a reset button on the back.

    You wont do any harm if you follow the directions. If you're really that worried back up your data.
