    A Really good free firewall?

    Hey all,

    Well as of today, I am not able to continue using my NIS2006 for certain reasons. :)

    Anyway, I'm hoping to get some input on some good to best "Free" firewalls? Also, what about Antivirus? I am trying out Avast Home Edition 'cuz I've read that alot of people say it's one of the best! But I does not have have a way to run schedules except bootscans.

    Thanks

    I've been using the Sygate firewall since a freind recommended it. No problems after a year so I guess it's working fine.

    ZoneAlarm is ok and free, jetico is ok, CoreForce is good although very resource heavy but does its job. However if you really want a good firewall my best suggestion is learn how to crack or find cracks. For antivirus its even harder finding a free one because most of the free ones are terrible. ClamWin is free and terrible. BitDefender have a free on demand scanner; AVG free edition exists;

    Thanks for the replies. Well I got me BitDefender Internet Security 9. Seems to be working pretty good so far. Ran the Antivirus that it's bundled with last night and it found Viruses that Norton never even found!!! It has all the things that NIS 2006 has in it. AntiSpam, Anti-Spyware, Antivirus, Firewall, Etc. The only 2 things that it does not have that NIS 06 has is the "Pop Up Blocking" and "Ad Blocking" But that's ok.... I upgraded my system from 1GB or RAM to 2 GB. SO I have plenty of RAM to let other blockers run in the background.

    Thanks for the comments.

    Norton's AV is a piece of shit.

    Just use Firefox with a popup blocker plugin for that.

    Glad I was able to help. : )
