Playing Videos on Windows Media Player

Hi can anyone help,i have downloaded several video movies(only clean ones lol).When i try to play them with windows media player a screen comes up with "cannot find decopressor " then an error message with "error 80040200".Some films will play in win media player and others wont .Cheers in advance for any help.Please answers in idiot fashion as im not exactly computer clued up cheers
