The US state of Mississippi plans to put the names and faces of convicted sex offenders on roadside billboards.
About 100 posters showing offenders, particularly those who prey on minors, will be put up, a state official said.
Don Taylor, head of the state's Department of Human Services, told a local newspaper the aim was to make the public aware of their crimes.
But human rights campaigners say the measure is unnecessary as the public is already aware once convicts are jailed.
Mr Taylor is especially keen to name and shame those who make minors pregnant.

So what's the justification for jailing them? If a person cannot pay for their crimes by going to prison anyway, why not just kill them the first time they commit an offense? Any offense.
Kill those damn jaywalkers and get it over with.
v good idea
diss em and shame the scum
infact behead them
If there was ever a circumstance for capital punishment, it's the crimes commited by sexual predators who prey on minors.

I'll give Mississppi this much, they have the age of consent at 16 instead of 18. I still question anytime a person 15 chooses to have sex whether or not they could really be said to be unable to determine the prerequisite mental decision. At 15 I had elaborate thoughts about my willingness but found unwillingness all around me and females are generally accepted to mature faster than boys. Most 15 year old girls already exceed my maturity.
If a 15 year old girl was involved with an 18 year old guy I can't see the justification in all of the usual castration mongoring. As the guy's age increases I admit it gets more reasonable perhaps. I've got to say that if a good looking 15 year old knocked on my door today I'd put vast effort into impregnating her.
Once a 16yold slid down her panties and hung them on my rear view mirror with her toes. Her line was, would you rather have sex with your 40+ ex gf, or a nice tight 16yold like me?
In that moment of clarity, as a light shown down from heaven, it made perfect sense to me.
I'd do it again without reservations.

Loook at how many sex offenders are in my neck of the woods.. . Some are alias of that person. A family posted a description and address of one that lived behind my house, on three mail boxes. They tore it down. But if these sex offenders arent a shamed of themselfs, publishing it to others wont make them that much more ashamed. It just provide people info on whos the threat and watch for which everyone should get everyones back. Sex offenders dont just rape girls or have sex with 16 year old.. They rape little boys, family members and girls who are no more then 5.

It doesnt leave you, and I know this from friends that were attacked many years ago, and still have nightmares about it. It changed them forever.
Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.
I've had a number of relationships with women that were raped or sexually abused by relatives. They all had baggage to try to deal with. They all had scars.

Punishment that doesnt cross over into "cruel and unsual" for these monsters is difficult as well. I mean, short of a life sentence, these guys are guaranteed to get out the joint at some point and do it again. It makes the question of "rehabilitation" and the punishment "fitting the crime" a difficult one. Life in prison would be my choice as the victims rarely if other recover from the trauma of such a horrific violation of their very being.
To boot, as one considers these monsters, and I cant say that enough, get what in terms of years in prison? !0 maybe, Im not sure, but the guy selling harmless pot gets a 20 - 30 year sentence? Its just frickin retarded. The way we deal with these monsters needs to be reevaluated on a more comprehensive level that takes into account the VICTIM or VICTIMS and not just the monster involved.
Id be curious to know what other countries do in these cases, but my intuition tells them that the pent up nature of our puritanical society which outlaws prostitution only worsens the situation by not allowing for a legal and consensual outlet for these monsters to satisfy their urges in a controlled manner. Id like to see the statistics compaing instances of rapes per capita of countries with legal prostitution and those that dont. I'd bet its much, much lower. Why risk it when you can pay a measly 50 bucks or whatever and be on your merry way?
Unfortunately common sense and our govt are like oil and water. They'll just never understand possibility from practicality. Again, like pot, you cant OD on it, doesnt hurt you, except excessive food consumption, and yet they go on and on about it being harmful when everybody knows it BS, it just shows the emperor really doesn't wear clothes.
very bad idea. it looks good up front, untill the dead bodies start piling up.Originally Posted by mfgbypooter
