Windows 64 bit edition wont load

Hey yall, along with my new comp I got the Athlon 64 x2 4400+ processor, and so I bought Windows XP Pro x64 edition and it loads fine up until it's about 2/3 through the "installing windows" portion and then freezes, it stays at 34 minutes and never moves, and sometimes goes to a blue screen of death saying that there is a check_machine_error or something. I know, maybe I was an idiot for buying Windows, but does anyone know what's going on and what I can do about it? BTW I have downloaded 2 different ISOs and they both do the exact same thing. Normal Windows XP 32 bit edition works fine though.

nope, here's something funny, I don't mind admitting since none of you know who I am but normally would be embarrassed to tell people. I kept on trying, restarting, and restarting, and then finally it worked and I put in the CD key and everything and I was so excited that somehow when I was walking back to this computer I tripped on the cord and it shut off, so now I have to do it again, and I have tried doing it another 7 or 8 times since then without any luck, well, eventually it will work I think.

    Hehe, you gotta love Microinept.

The only problem now is that Windows Media Player has a huge memory leak or something. It sucks up 45% of my processor and uses about 100MB of RAM. Music Match Jukebox uses about 1% and maybe 25MB or something.

I ran the compatibility check and it says it should work. I read the MS page, but it is just a bunch of Microsoft 64 bit propaganda from what I can tell.

Ive had absolutely no trouble with windows xp 64bit and actually find it more stable then 32bit. When I bought my machine I lucked out and most drivers were already out or in the works. The only drivers that are lacking are my setpoint drivers, webcam drivers and my gamepad(sketchy).

umm, there's not really any driver issues. It's stable and everything, as stable as Windows XP 32 bit, the only problem I have is that when I am playing music, WMP can use 100MB to 200MB of RAM and uses atleast 40% of my processor, which equates to a full 2.4 GHz 64 bit AMD Athlon, thatt's a lot just to run an mp3. I use VLC too, but I like the library features of WMP and WMP actually uses like 1% processor when I play videos, the mp3 thing is the only problem.
