Question How much do they get?

Im really wondering how much P2P developers get paid for adding spyware and adware to there program: does anybody know this or are there any pages where i can find out?

    $1.00 CPM Deals...
    1000 impressions = $1.00
(I think it's one unique impression per ad per day, 6 rotated ads)

Now here comes the estimations and guesswork:

    Direct Connect...

100,000+ users at a time, probably well over 150,000 users through the day.

    150,000 x 6 = 900,000 (and I reckon thats an underestimate!!)

    $900 a day.

Anybody curious as to why Jon Hess wouldn't be bothered about updating Direct Connect over the last 18 months??? - I can only guess! ;)

    Okay, now think of KaZaA!!!!

    Peace!!! :)

could it also be that DC uses a poor dead end protocol and that the program itself is written in heh vb heh.

Although i wonder why people still use this program which is oviously not going anywheres..

    whats up!

Hey guys I am not new to KaZaA, but, I am new to the idea of everyone discussing it. I know that this sounds like the same old dumb shit, but, I wanted to get some stuff off my buddies pc so I had him make some obscure files, I could not find those files at all. no search results, why cant it find a file that is named different from anything else??? I appriciate your time!

Use a instant messager which all the major ones have one on one file transferring ability..

    WELL?

That would work but I have Kazaa, ya know, there has to be a way to do it or is this one of those problems everyone has faced??? In other words if you liked somthing you got from me you have only until it is done downloading to message or to search by user???

Yes, there is no option in Kazaa to directly serch for a user from the serch panel. it would be a 1 in 100 chance that you and your buddy will hit the same supernode ( or whatever) at the same time to where you would see each other. If you want to share files direct with you friends DC++ is one of many programs that can do this. you can make a "hub" and then anyone you want to came come and dowonload stuff. Check it out if thats what you are interested in doing.

What I am saying is why not add or rename a file in your shared folder to be named somthing like 1110010100**& there is probably only one file named that garble, then once I find that folder I have found the user. Does that make any sence?

No because you cannot search the entire network with any p2p program only a portion of it so itd be unlikely that the other person you want would get it as a search result why a direct transfer through instant messangers would be better because it would be direct and your using something that you and your friend most likely both have.

i can only guess that people still use DC because they don't have a stigma about VB (or they just don't realise DC is written in VB) and they probably wanna get away from leechers and get with bigger filesharers with high quality files and minshare limits/sharing-enforcement. Can't disagree with the fact it's a dead end protocol tho and it's a shame it's lacking things like CRC-hashing, swarmloading, etc.. :(

anyway.. if anyone wants to know "how much they get"...
go check out Cydoor's website and their shitware deals for developers. ;)

find out your ip address (www.whatsmyipadress.com) then put it in the 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' in this address: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1214
then give that address to your friend amd make sure you have kazaa on. then he will get a list of all your files as hyperlinks, which he/ she can download. make sure you have slots open in kazaa tho.

uh huh as opposed to what ? gnutella?

    oh yeah that's going somewhere.

there are a lot more users than hess's numbers, because hardly anyone uses regular dc any more (looking at my hub right now 16 users, 3 using regular dc, 290GB of files--and my hub is one of the tiny ones)

everyone with a lick of sense uses dc++--why? with it and a good multihub searcher (www.moglo.net) you can find 200 of any file you want in 5 minutes

plus it's indestrictible--get a no-ip.org or servebeer.com or whatever and move your hub around if you want to(the physical location of the server program) you could have it running here today, sweden 5 minutes from now, taiwan 10 minutes later etc.

anyone can be a server in 2 minutes--install the program(s), put the scripts in the folder turn it on and bam! you are rolling. if you get sued out of existence, 50 more people can take your place (and if you are worried about that you can make your hub password only access, a feature available nowhere else)
