    New Antivirus Software

I need to get 2003 (i.e new version) Antivirus software but I dont know what one to get. I had a bad experience with Norton Antivirus 2002 and was wondering if 2003 was any better (for Windows XP). Anyone like any other anti-virus software that u think I should get instead.

    AVG!!

I've been using AGV for 'bout a year and it has never failed. Another good point is you can choose not to run the resident shield (saves resources) and still be able to scan on the fly with its shell extension (IE right click then hit scan with AVG). This is by far the best protection out there.

    Talking Good info people

Thanks for the great information people, The links from Krell were up to his standards and after studing them I decided to opt for AVG. I did this because, its free (I know I can download from KaZaA) but this way I know Ive got a real quality Antivirus scanner, It has all the features Ill ever use and the first time a run a scan it found a virus and it handled it greatly. With AVG ill get no more. I was wondering also, should I get a firewall, and what one, also are there any more things that people would recomend for security.

TFoS_Fan, I would consider getting System Suite V4 as well. It has many great tools for cleaning up your system, zip repairs, and defrags. You can get it off Kazaa and I can assure you it works like a charm. It has a virus scan also, but if you like AVG, use that becuase that is very good. The cleanup tools in itself are worth the download. BTW, System Suite also has a firewall, but I have yet to use it and I don't think I will because it wouldn't be all that useful to me. But I dont think you can go wrong with ZoneAlarm. My friend had it and it seemed to work great for him, with no hassles and problems. Hope I helped some....

Same here! AVG is the best! I have had too many probs with McAfee and Norton.

AVG is the best choice (for me :-) )

That sounds like some bloated software. How much of your system resources does it eat up?

    System Suite v4

Is this program normally free, I tend to find security and virus programs on KaZaA are either bogus or dont work fully. Im downloading off KaZaA the now but I'm not installing it to I make sure its ok. Interssting that no one is saying that the paid programs are better. You would think they are better, due to them having to be paid for thus more developed (by paid developers). Am I wrong or right?

Ontrack is a very large download and I can't really comment on the firewall because I never use it since I have no need to. It doesnt take up too much system resources. I have intellicluster running in the background and my comp has sped up tremendously ever since I got Ontrack. I use it mainly for the clean up tools, registry cleaners, and internet cleanup tools. The virus scan seems to work great also. All, I can say is that my computer has been running better than ever. I highly recommend it even without the firewall. Great proggie.

    Question hmmm...

Do u guys think I should get rid of AVG virus scan and just do everything using System Suite v4 if I like it. I dont like the idea of having two virus scanners on my comp.
