I had a similar problem when I was trying to install Office 97 a few years back and the solution couldn't be easier.

Take your XP CD in your hand, turn it upside down, look at all the fingerprints and marks, wipe of gently with a soft cloth.

It your disk badly scratched or marked? Have you got a duplicate of the CD from a while back, before the marks?

Good, use a decent blank CD, a high quality one if you can get yours hands on some. Then give it another bash and report back.

Okay.... Ive tried formating and installing win 2000 on two separate drives...... I recently had a mobo warrentied with a replacement but never had this issue before.

Heres a list of what Im running:

    P4 3.2
    1g of kingston
1 lg dvd rom and dvd burner
    80g maxtor
    160g western digital
    Nvidia 6600BFG GT
    Asus p4p8 mobo
    Creative audiology platinum 2 zs

I thought it may have been the disk but after trying the two ops I dont think its it. Ive tried 2 other harddrives with the same problem happening each time(blue screen of death with error, but different error each time). I can only get as far as the set up into xp and win 2000 and then it crashes. Not sure what else it could be.....Please help....

Its your ram, something gone wrong with it. Don't ask me why Windows XP is very fussy when it comes to ram. I'm guessing it maybe damaged in someway. Take out the stick dust them off, reset your bios give it a try, if it doesn't work get some new ram fairly cheap these days.
