    Winmx leechers,any solution?

I'm getting really pissed off by all these leechers in my que in winmx.
I now there's a program for kazaa called kazaa kontrol that automatically removes leechers from you'r que.
Is there a similar program for winmx?
Does anyone knows how to contact the winmx developers?
    any other solution?

    All help will be apreciated

P.S. Leechers, you are destroying p2p.Why don't you just share? It doesn't even slow down you'r downloads!

kazaa kontrol is ok, but its easy to get round. just put a couple of crappy jpegs or notepad documents in your download folder.

there are lots of different ways of leeching, what about the ones who only share their incomplete files, or peeps who restrict their upload bandwidth so no-one can get their files.

and what about the newbies who are only starting out with winMX? they may not even know how to rip a disc. hardly a good advertisement for the p2p community if they keep gettin cancelled.
It is so easy to rip cd's these days, you just make a search in a searchrobot and you get a lot of programs to rip.

It's easy to put a few jpg's,but if the developers put a minimum
total size of files to share, for example 300mb.
Even if you just started,it's not difficult to get 300mb with audio cd's.

And about the bandwith limiting, they should all do like xolox.
How lower the upload bandwith, how lower the download bandwith

    Leechers really bother me.

I have 3 000 mp3’s, most of them with high quality and I’m happy to share what I like. But when I see peoples who obviously don’t want to share, I’m pissed off. If I’m making the same, they couldn’t even try to download the song… So I’m wasting my time to kick out leechers.

So for the beginners, as said before, they can copy their favourite Cd’s.

For the bandwidth, there is several ways to handle that (secondary connection, queuing, bandwidth, …).

I think that the solution could be in WinMX. Like AudioGalaxy (I miss you), when you have less than 10 shared mp3’s, you can’t download more than one file at a time. But you can easily cheat with it (putting fake mp3).

The best solution should be a username with points. Each time you put one byte in the system (uploading, primary connection), your points will increase. Each time you get one byte from the system (downloading), your points will decrease. Now when you are in a queue, your priority is managed according to your points. So the fair users will be encouraged.

With that system, WinMX will get into a virtuous circle. Users will be interested to share more, so more choice, less queue… more users, more…

If somebody knows how to ask that to WinMX, I will be very happy…

I don't see what the big deal is. I share with everyone on my queue. I want to give back the help I got when I first started with hardly any files to share exept nonsense jpgs. People were generous and let me d/l from them regardless of how many files I had to share. And I want to give that back to the community.

Be patient guys, most of us here are good with computers, ripping and etc, but there are some who don't have a clue. Some don't even know they have to rip their own CD's before they log on to a file sharing client.

Sure, the want to get ripping software and then try to d/l from one of you guys and their d/l gets cancelled.

Also, I don't have the time or energy to look at each and everyone of the people in my queue to see how many files they have or how good their files are. I d/l what I want and leave my house, go to sleep, or do something else.

I think there are enough people out there that truly share their files. There are people that don't, but not so much to make your panties ripple over.

Well a reason would be (even though i h8 leechers) that people with dial up and cable in general have a (example:300mb limit per month so ppl only have 300meg a month and when they share a few hours pass and their allowance for the month is already gone :(

    here's a solution:
everyone who shares, stop using winmx for 1 month

once the leeches find 0 files to get, they move onto greener pastures in gnutella or kazaa or whatnot

then all the sharers come back and make sure the leeches don't find out, and post things on p2p sites saying that winmx is dead and so on

that's all i can think of right now, i call it the "fake your own death to get away from creditors" plan

ooops... it seems i've said too much <cyanide capsule taken>

    gasp
    gasp
    must.... hit.... send......

    urghhhhh

And the points thing . . you think you can make that any more F**d up and convaluted than it already is ? I got your points right here.

In the perfect file sharing world of Krell, everyone would be a sharer of X# of files, or they would not be, period!

So . . . I click a little button that says, filter non-sharers, and * poofy cheesballs* they are not able to queue. period!

When youve been sharing as long as I have, or a much as I have, then you can decide if you want rippling panties or not.

    thats a wrap

First off, I took the "I'm 18" as a compliment. LOL I'm faaaar from it!

Secondly, I am far from clueless b/c I keep up with what's going on in the p2p world, so I know what you guys are talking about!

Next, if you have a problem with me wanting to do other things while I d/l on winmx, I just chalk that off as your problem!

Finally, if you think you are getting your point across via insults/personal attacts --- Guess what? It doesn't work!!

I have a right to my opinion - unless of course this is a one sided thread of which it's not. If you don't like what I have to say, tough luck!

    End of story

PS. I had to make this short b/c I see a tree outside that needs a good huggin......:heart

    Leachers - Yo' Mama

Castration won't do the trick. Once castrated, leachers will have nothing to worry about.
I say, let's stick to something that's been working for centuries, let's stick to debt collecting/Yakooza techniques, namely bustin' chops and hacking fingers.

    Venting... venting... venting...Done

So, let's sum all leaching techniques known to date before devising means to intercept, shall we?
    1. Sharing few files (or no files at all), low bit-rate MP3, etc.
    2. Sharing tiny itsy-bitsy files while trying to dl huge ISOs and Movies.
    3. Setting up a firewall, so seemingly sharing files but actually nowbody can download (didn't you ever see these "1 of 1 available" and at the same time, a 100 ppl Q? or being unable to Q up?)
    4. Sharing only partial files.

    What I propose is that:
    1. You won't be able to dl huge files unless you're sharing complete one. the more big files you download, the more you should share.
    2. You can't download unless someone is (or was recently) uploading from you.
    3. Add settings that would alow you to relex these restrictions, or to set them up accordingly.
    4. Make the whois more informative, show in it how many complete files, how many big files, average MP3 bit-rate. Make it easier to kick them leachers without having to actually browse their files.

In the interim, Krell proposal is the best weapon we've got.

this is to anyone who thinks leechers aren't a problem:

do you like queues? no, i didn't think so. do you have queues? yeah, if you share. now, if you haven't ever done so, I want you so browseandwhois all the users that download from you a file bigger than 10 megs. (or if all you have is mp3's, then browse everyone) keep tally of the users with more than 10 files and the users with less and none. you'll see there's quite a number who don't have anything/much to share. Now think about all those people who wait ahead of you in queues, who take up time downloading rare shit that they aren't going to share. rare shit that if you'd gotten you would have shared. have you ever gotten cut off mid-queue when the user went offline? could you have gotten though if the leechers weren't taking up downloading and queue spots? considering all the users that leeched off you, the chances are pretty damn good.

never had a queue in file sharing--how?
when programs leech out and turn to crap i move on

of course none of this is a problem in DC++, since non sharers can't even get in (yes they can fake, but it isn't difficult to pick them out and boot them)

Yeah, I tried "FileShare" that is like a DC and was quite impressed. I d/led it b/c I like to play around with different file-sharing programs.

It's good if you don't like leechers. I recommend it.

I was a leech. Then I shared out 2300 MP3s. Did people appreciate it? NO! I got instant messages like:

    FUCK YOU
    YOU SUCK
    You're slow
    go fuck yourself
    you don't got no movies
    STOP DOWNLOADING FROM ME!

Is the RIAA or MPAA sending these messages?

People, if someone is sharing files, don't send them messages like these, it only discourages filesharing.
