    "Stormtrooper" facial body armor

Because of the increased risk of airborne fragmentation threats, resulting from improvised
explosive devices, also known as IED’s, MTek has produced the Predator Facial Armor System Technology, or FAST for short.

The FAST G1, was designed for use by vehicle mounted personnel, more specifically crew served weapons operators. By nature of their duty, crew served weapons operators have a significantly reduced protection level, when compared with occupants who remain inside the vehicle.

Weighing in at .63kg the FASTG1 is light enough for daylong convoys and operations where a high threat of airborne debris is imminent. It is fully compatible with most communications equipment found in MRC vehicles, and was designed to have more than adequate ventilation, even in adverse weather conditions and temperatures. Whether it be an afternoon sandstorm, gravel kicked up from a 7-ton, or fragmentation from an IED, the Predator FAST G1 was designed to increase the combat effectiveness of vehicle mounted personnel, by offering a layer of protection, unavailable until now.

Why dont they just build a whole helmet protecting the soldier from the neck up rather then having glasses, face mask and helmet.
Anyone upset or offended by my post please follow the link and let your opinions be known.

It's pretty tacky to display the name across the mouth location.

if you can see the body armor the Marine is wearing. His/her uniform is covered...no name tape showing. I could see why they would put their name on the mouth. Easy ID. Too bad the helmets really don't do shit. That's the one thing the armed forces need to improve on. The helmet can stop a NATO 5.56mm (standard round for NATO forces) but cannot stop a 7.62mm(insurgent/terrorist round, hell, anyone with an AK)
The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.

Looks like the face piece could probably take a round or two.
Now they'll be able to identify the remains by dental records easier.

And for those of you that don't know, it's about damn time! These types of devices have been in the works longer that then the joint strike fighter, but have never been pushed to the deployment stage until recently.
Warning: Any advice given by me is off the top of my head not googled, I Ieave that to you. As such it is quite prone to brain farts and other inaccuracies, use at your own risk.

Software? Sorry officers no software here, I only have hardware!

too bad you could still get shrapnel through your eyes and neck and still be dead, and that the roadside bombs tend to also rip arms and legs off

how about the ultimate body armor, keeping your ass at home?

I suppose if all the countries did that, we'd have many more survivors.

Does it have to be that boring green?
People standin on top of the white house, there's people standin up on capital hill...
They stand up there, sound like they know something...
They all still wake up in the morning, drink a cup of coffee and take a shit, they aint better than I am.
And they dance around a problem... say this... talk about the eco-nomic imp-li-cations...

But their grandfather, great great grandfather, was just like my great great grandfather, just a bunch of monkeys swingin up in trees shittin in the woods.

Very cool.. Another upside to the face protection is the intimidation factor. A few troops marching in wearing those things would be quite scary
