    the burning question

    I need a little insight on how to solve a problem...lets say you have some files that came to you in a .zip format. Unzipping no problem with winrar or 7-zip. Now these files need to go on a CD that would be bootable, say an operating system for example... when the files are burned from the extracted .zip, the resulting CD is not bootable.....much frustation later I'm here....

    can some of the good folks give me some pointers here?

    I use WinISO to create bootable CD.

    First, use the Notepad to create AutoRun.ini text file. Then use WinISO to create bootable CD with other files you want on the CD. Done!

    Sorry, the file to be created should be AutoRun.inf not AutoRun.ini.

    For example, you want to create a bootable CD to install a game, you would create a text file AUTORUN.INF with lines like:

    [autorun]
    OPEN=Setup.exe
    ICON=Game.ico

    On the CD, it should includes all other files needed by Setup.exe to install your game!

    Ok

    Not to sound like a dick or something but Google is your friend. No actually Google is "God". Omnipresent, Omniscient, yadah, yadah.

    Simply type "bootable xp cd" and you will receive countless pages of advice and tutorials that far out way the value of this forum (No offence to the Zeropaid loyalist as they are usually very helpful)

    If you don't feel like trusting "God" then here is a link that "God" gave me when typing those exact words.
    http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/

    I'm sure there are easier ways but I'm not going to List 48,000 web sites when Google will do that if you just type in those words.

    Actually brings up a valid point!

    Even if you DO have a bootable CD, and you do not set your BIOS to boot from the CD or DVD drive before the hard drive, it's not going to try.

    Make sure you are set to boot from that drive and try again.

    You can use magiciso to create iso image. and add autorun.ini into the iso image.
