My Shared Folder says 245 video files but Kazaa shows I am sharing 335 files.

Hello All.

Has anyone had the problem of a larger number of files showing on the 'sharing files' indicator than are in the My Shared Folder?

I have scoured my PC but no sign of those mystery files anywhere.

Anyone have an idea of what might be going on?

some viruses hide files by marking the attrbute to hidden and/or system
and if youont have explorer set to display system and hidden files you wont see them in explorer unless you change it's settings
maybe you're sharing other folders besides your download folder?

Sounds like a virus. I had one back in the days I used to use kazaa. It'll make copies of itself to be distributed by Kazaa under attrative file names. Ie "(insert name) keygen .exe".

Have a look in the shared folder in Kazaa and you should be able to see the extra files.

most likely your sharing partial downloads... there in a seperate folder possibly like a cache?

use Bittorrent, Gnutella 2, Gnutella 1, Ares, & ED2K (but only if you like wating 19834681234823 millions of years for a file)

For some reason my original ID stopped working so I have re-registered.

Thanks everyone for the replies, this is a great Forum.

I've dumped K-Lite, swept with SpyBot S&D which found a ton of stuff.

Then swept with MASW.

I've downloaded FrostWire and Peer Gaurdian 2 but have not started using it yet 'cause I had to make dinner for my wife and I.

Is there anything else I should add or be on the look out for?

You have them do all that and then tell them to install a wasteful app like frostwire.. USENET is where its at.!!!

Okay, I just started FrostWire and PG2.

Instant freeze up and I re-started 3 times with the same result.

I have a new PC and it is not out of resources. FW will just not work for me.

Any advice on downloading and using USENET ?

well hey I know but FrostWire is good for starts and simple to use also

remember this is a guy who was using KMD so he is just prob getting into the world of P2P.
