    Help Needed

noob to this, don't want to piss you gus off but i've got a few questions about the risks of p2p.

UK relevant answers greatly appreciated but any is fine.

    1. Is it true that if you don't share any files (video, audio etc.) then there is a 0% chance of being caught?
( i know that is immoral)

    2. Is it true that your downloads can only be traced back 6 months on your ISP so anything you downloaded before that they cant see?

    3. Do they really always target the major uploaders? do people who only download ever get caught?
    (similar to question 1)

    4. If they see the files you have downloaded do they see only the ones that are fully downloaded or all files, even those which failed on 0%?

    5. How good are UK police at tracing this sort of thing?

    cheers for helping

    truth is

if u share files (either way) u could get caught

dowload rare or unpopular shit and it will lessen ure chances

as will not uploading (but u will get crap speeds and ure ip may get blocked on some sites or trackers)

u wont be safe ever but neither is anyone else

u just have to hope u wont get caught

    and enjoy ure free stuff

    .

oh yeah and there is no such thing as anonymous p2p (anyone who says there is is an idiot) and il get backed up on this.

ok isps as far as i know have no limit on how much they can store in their logs

and recently a guy was given 4 years in prison for dvd piracy (involving downloads and distibution hence the large sentance)

that was 8 miles from where i live

as i said u are never safe just hope that ure luck dont run out

    cheers.

    one last question -

if you are using wireless broadband and several different connections to download (different ISPs, eg. a neighbours connection) but from the same "physical address", will they be able to still trace everything to you, or does this reduce your chances of being caught to however many songs/videos you download from each one?

    thanks for your help

i would not advise using someone elses connection for p2p

and if u do it without consent u may get in big trouble

all they can trace is the isp's knowlege of where u live

so if u use ur neighbours connection u are adding risk for him too (or more liklely his parents)

Use usenet, anonymous and no risk in being caught.. And how can you download multiple binaries and your newsreader constructs them on your machine, as well as you can use a secure ssl connection.. No sharing either, just fast downloads.
