I'm looking for a DVD-R MP3 player that plays those coveted disks. I have a DVD player that currently reads my 1,200 + song disk - but - it doesn't have the random feature on it...I'm sick of hearing the same twenty or so songs I listen to every given time I play it. Do any of you know of any players out there that are rather cheap that have that feature along with an option to hook it up to a speaker system?

are you wanting a portable one?? I been asking for this for a year now. A car stereo MP3 player that let you play dvd mp3's. It makes since to have it =) Its like a nano on the go.
I would prefer a portable one, shawners. But if I must get a DVD player with the random feature, I guess I can, my mother needs a DVD player for her room so I could just give her the one I'm using now.

that would be a pretty nice thing to have around, please let us know if you do run across one. I'd be interested in a portable to listen to tunes on.
Looks cool but so expensive. Might as well buy a video iPod for that much cash.
We_Deliver is right, I won't be shelling out that kind of money anytime soon. Thanks shawners for finally pinning down one though. I would rather buy a DVD player with the random song capability. Do any of you guys own one of them that plays DVD-R mp3 disks that is pretty cheap?

That looks awesome (after Googling it). It's what I'd like to trade up to.Originally Posted by PiRaNeTuS

Nice little players you guys brought up, I'm not in the market for a car stereo but if I was - I would definetly consider that nice one. As for the mini dvd player, it looks like a good deal, i'll see if I can't find a cheaper one on Ebay.
Do any of you know of any standalone DVD players (for my living room) that play DVD-R MP3 disks with the random play function? I did some searching earlier today and still can't find one.

If you're OK with it not being portable, a modded Xbox w/ xbox media center running will do the trick. Sure, its overkill for what you want - but if you enjoy games whatsoever, its an awesome toy to have.
Yeah wonderboy, I thought about looking one of those up for sale on E-bay as well, I could get ahold of some nice software to go along with that box, the prices have dropped since the release of the 360 :)

Trust me... if you do it, you'll love it so much. I've said this before, but it is absolutely my favorite toy. Even if you don't install a bigger hard drive, you can still fit tons of roms on it. I've modded two for friends and on both I put a couple thousand roms for NES, SNES n64 and Sega on the standard hard drive.Originally Posted by Andromedon
If you do decide to do it, go with XBMC as your dashboard. Its got so many features that set it apart, and the fact that its open source is icing on the cake.
Thanks for the advice on what to use media wise on my future XBox, I gave that a looksee and must say I like it!
