Need help hooking up a PS2

ok here is the deal......i got a that does'nt have any input/ouput connections, it just has the cable connection. i also have a dvd/vcr player and a dvr/cable box hooked to my tv. my wife just got me a ps2 slim and i can't figure out how to hook it up right. i have tried evey possible way to hook it up to work without any luck.

my dvd/vcr player and my dvr/cable box have all the input/output connections and i tried many different ways to hook it up but none of them worked. i checked on-line and i think a rfu adapter might be the problem but i don't want to buy one if i do not need it. can anyone here give me a hand or give me a link that might help? i have already searched on-line for help and can't find what i need............thanks

    ......i got a ?????? that does'nt have any input/ouput connections
First, let's start with the ????. I'm guessing a TV, but I could be wrong. The PSTwo most likely comes with a cable that has the special connector on one end for the console and a set of RCA connectors, (Red, White, Yellow) on the other. If your TV only had a cable input, that is most likely connected to the DVR, which in turn is connected to the DVD/VCR, which is finally connected to the Cable Company's cable from the wall.

This basically allows two options for connecting the PSTwo. Both have pros and cons.

    1) You can connect the RCA cables from the PSTwo to either the DVD/VCR input jacks or the DVR input jacks. Whichever one you chose, that unit will have to be powered ON in order to use the PSTwo. In addition, the remote (possibly the face of the unit also) will have a button that allows you to change the input to an Alternate Source. It can be labeled Aux Input or TV/Video...anything like that which will switch what you see to the input ports in th back where the PSTwo cables are connected. I would go with the unit that has the button on its remote that can be found easily.

    2) You buy an RF adaptor. This small unit, which most of the time is powered, has RCA input jacks which integrate with two coaxial connections-- Ant IN and TV Out. This can be inserted at any point between the TV and the wall. In other words, between the TV and DVR, between the DVD/VCR and DVR, etc...YTou just connect the colored RCA jacks to the matching ports on it and connect the appropriate coaxial cables to the other connectors. The only power necessary will be for the RF Adaptor. The DVD/VCR and the DVR will not have to be powered on.

So, in a nutshell, you can use the existing cables, but have one unit on while playing, and hopefully figure out how to get there. Or you can buy the adaptor and connect it that way.

Oh yeah, you could ask her for a new TV too. :icon_thum

i think you can also buy an RCA plug AB[C][D][E] switchbox for around $10 at wally world

it has between 2 (i don't even think they make simple AB anymore) and i have seen 5 and 6 input models, then onme output buttons to select which input you want going to the TV.

that solution is simplest for future upgrades if you buy a PS3 or NRev or XBox 360 later on you can just add them to the switch box, or even hook up a multi stage monstrosoty when you run out of plugs on it so one selecs "TV, Movies, Games" and movies selects "DVD, Laserdisc, VHS, DV Camera" and games selects "Atari, PS2, SNES"
