    Microsoft drops Mac IE

The news, which came in a statement on Friday, may not have come as a complete surprise to Mac users: Microsoft announced back in June 2003 that it was ending Mac support for IE.

Microsoft has not upgraded the software in three years, leaving IE 5--rather than version 6, which is available for Windows--as the most recent version available to Mac users. While IE for Mac will continue to be available for another month after support ends, Microsoft is advising all users to move to "more recent browsing technology such as Apple's Safari."

In other news: The lack of support for IE is unlikely to be an issue for Apple users, most of whom already use alternatives. The only potential difficulty could lie with some sites that have been designed to work with IE only.

A world of invisible people. We pass them without seeing them, as casually and indifferently as we pass our own reflections in store front windows. Do they really live among us? Or are they citizens of another country, a vast and teaming gulag of the dispossessed. No, don't turn away. Look in their faces. Do you see your brother? Your mother? An old friend? Someone you went to school with? Someone you once loved? No? You didn't see them? Not today. Tomorrow you could.

Makes sense. Most apple owners use Safari or Firefox. Though with the release of IE7 coming, increased standards support, and collaboration with FF, why not try to "fight back"?

Ok, somebody here please give me a eligible and intelligent excuse why Microsoft is so bad?

All these anti Microsoft claims are always childish "they suck" rants with no backup. Where's your point?

We would be nowhere right now if we didn't have Microsoft and you know it.

BTW, Firefox is just as insecure as IE.

Microshit has HOMEPAGE Hijacks, TONS Of installing x control, popups galore, just recently obtained tab browsing, lots of adware gets stored in the cache and cookies, and not as fast as any other browser.

The claims the we would be nowhere without microsoft are just as rediculous as saying that people have no reason to disslike microsoft. Not only do they bundle software that you are unable to remove, they stomp out competition ruthlessly. I just hate companies that use loopholes to kill competition. So pretty much most large corporations I hate. As well as all large scale investors. Investors are whats wrong with products today. They want to cut costs to they give you shitty quality products.

exactly I never seen anyone who uses firefox have any of these problems throw a decent ad block list in their and your safe as something really safe like umm a safty match or somet.

also I don't have a problem with microsoft I use windows(my own version mind) everyday but their products are extrememly overpriced and their is always a opensource alternative which is free and im many cases better products. open office, firefox ect
    Rest in peace mother

The reason internet explorer is dangerous to use is because it's too powerful.Truthfully why mozilla and firefox are more secure is because they aren't as powerful.

Unfortunately with human nature, power isn't always better.

Sounds like a quote from a Microsoft newsletter...

"...IE 7 will be just as insecure as Firefox is right now. Final version is anticipated Q4 2006..."

Im sure more its cause microsoft IE is standard on all the PC's unless made by the person or format and change OS.. If you shoot into a heard of LINUX users.. You may hit one animal, shoot in a bigger heard of microsoft IE.. You may get a dozen animals. I think that IE is just so widely used that more people try to hack and exploit the security flaws. I admit firefox has its bad things, but its not as bad as IE.. And anything, competition makes things better all away around. We have choice, they have to compete to gain users and get more people into their software.

As a Systems Administrator/Integrator MSoft pays my check weekly I love when Windows products break or have major problems. It means more money for me and my colleagues. On the flip side it sucks for the everyday Joe User because when his system turns tits up he has to pay my fee for a fix. My issue with MSoft is if they stop trying to make windows your vcr,cd burner, video editing suite, etc, etc, and concentrate more on making the core kernel secure and stable. We wouldn't be here chatting about this because Apple probably wouldn't have much of a user base period.
