The drop of 11 percent--from June, when an estimated 6.4 million households downloaded at least one music file, to October, when 5.7 million households downloaded at least one file--seems to show that the entertainment industry's campaign against file swapping is gaining momentum, said NPD Group analyst Russ Crupnick.
"This is the first time that we've seen this kind of significant drop that's definitely not related to seasonality," Crupnick said.

Its more the likely most people are just in private trackers and hidding from the riaa. How can the data by the analyst be accurate anyway. If they claim they were scanning networks or what not then they would never have an accurate number as people change networks all the time.

These morons, they were probably paid a few hundred grand to do this survey and all they did was download kazaa and check how many users it told them were online. I too noticed it.
