    Fast Internet-- Slow Downloads...

hey i recently upgraded my internet from a service which had a max download rate of 3.0mpbs to a new service which had a download rate of 6.0mpbs, and ive noticed the difference in speeds when downloading from a direct source, but when downloading from bittorent im having problems... Im currently using utorrent and have tried Azureus, and the problem is that my download rate is horrible.. its actually 10x slower than what it used to be when i had the slower internet... I have cable and im behind a router, and ive tried port forwarding, disabling firewalls, and leaving utorrent on for a while to see if my download speed will increase, but it doesnt... for example im downloading a fiel which had 300 seeders (connected to about 70) and 658 Peers (connected to 29 and my download rate is going at 2kb/s... on my old net service, a torrent like this would go at LEAST 40 kb/s..

Can anyone help me solve why this is happening, and ive called the net service, and they say that my connection is perfectly fine...

ive read the faqs that are posted and tried all the ways to fix this problem but still no help....

sighand it goes 2kb/s when im lucky... now it goes at around .1 - .3 kb/s

Do you have a green smilie or any nat errors. Any 4226 event errors, are you capping upload to max of 80% upload capacity?

Well after some searching it appears that rogers is using packet shaping technology to throttle bt bandwidth. A possible help for you is to use port 1720 (vonage voip). Apparently some people have limited success with this port because rogers dont interfere with their voip service.

Aside from that basically your screwed. Rogers dont like bt.

Rogers is limiting bt usage.. so you should of looked before you leaped.. You need bitcomit and use encrypt header.

    or..
Based on the extensive research done by the entire PiSexy staff, the following seem to be of help to the unfortunate among you stuck with Rogers for your ISP.

    1. Get a single port client like XBT, uTorrent, Azureus or some other, and set the port to use 1720, as it
appears that port is used for Voice over IP and should be left alone. If the client you chose supports
encryption, then it has been suggested to enable it. Look in the advanced options on the client, usually
somewhere in the network settings, to see if that feature is available.

    2. Make a manual file association of the new .pimpie filetype in your browser, so that it opens in your
    torrent client.

2(a). In I.E., simply click the .pimpie link, and select Open, then when prompted, find the torrent
client in the list of installed programs, and tell it to always use the program with that filetype.

2(b). In Firefox, when you click the .pimpie, it will ask to save or open with, and select open with, then
browse to the folder that has the torrent program you installed, and select the program to open
with. Be sure to also check the box that says to always peform this action.

    3. Pray to Pimpie for all that he does for you, and seed all that you download.
