    Question incoming connection

Twice i've tried to work with "WinMX" and both times unsuccesful
I have no idea what's going on but every time i try to download any file it changing color to red or something else and show
"remotely queued" or doesn't show anything at all. My download
never start......What is the most surprising, uploading work very good. I see that content of my shared folder passing to my lucky
"customers" with high speed. I don't thing this is right...
Maybe anybody give me good advise????

"remotely queued" simply means your download is being queued up on someone elses machine and you will get your turn when it comes round.

there are good and bad points to winMX:

the upside, you have access to mp3 of significantly higher quality than you find on other networks.

the downside, you have to wait in a queue to access it.

was the music you were trying to download quite obscure? if so there will clearly be less users who have it and you will have to queue for longer. if you want something popular your download will be much sooner.

its a good idea to queue up a large number of files before you go to work or before you go to bed.

are you on broadband?if you are on a dial-up connection you may decide to look elsewhere.

as for advice, well you might want to look around on this website for tips. the usenet newsgroup alt.music.mp3.winmx is also very good, frequented by many experienced users.

in the meantime their are a couple of settings you might like to adjust. right click a queued file and change auto find sources from 15 to 10. then change auto enter queue from 10 to 20 or 30, or even more if you are downloading a large file.

you might want to throttle your uploads slightly, so click on settings, and in the left hand pane highlight bandwidth throttle. put a check in the box next to limit outgoing bandwidth and change the outgoing bandwidth to a more acceptable level.

there are a number of setting changes you can make to winMX and it makes sense to play about with them until you find a set up which suits you.

hmm, try pulling more multi point downloads, especially for the common stuff mp3's. And be sure to do the stuff grab the haddock talked about, especially the auto find and the auto queue functions. But becareful about setting your auto queue too high. There is a certain point where you can't add users to your multi point d/l, and if all the spots are filled up by users who queued you 75, you won't have room for people with smaller queues. For movies, keep it around 20 and for mp3's around 5 or so, unless the thing is rare, then raise it. If you want movies you have to be very patient, very very patient. If you are really desperate for rare files that you can't find on the wpnp, try using some opennap servers along with your winmx connection. You might find some things that are unavailable else where. Though take note, there are queues there because of all the winmx users.
