    So far everything I've used that was made by microsoft, my mouse, my OS, my mapping software directions to toronto (boy was that a pain), a couple of games, their firewall, etc. Has been severely broken and crippled. The only way I continue to stomach windows is with a hearty daily helping of linux use, knowledge that hope is out there should this installation go to crap like the others, and treading extremely lightly. It also helps that I use the Opera web browser.

    Duh, you just said "Microsoft" and "security" in the same sentence. Oh wait, so did I.

    @laura:
    From: www.winsupersite.com

    "Microsoft claims that Windows XP and, by extension, Windows Vista, were architected for security, thanks to their NT roots. That claim is, however, bogus. Windows NT was designed in the pre-Internet days, and though the system's architecture is extensible, modern Windows versions are further hobbled by the inclusion of the buggy and insecure IE Web browser and other design mistakes. In short, Windows is a house of cards that seems increasingly incapable of handling today's demands."

    Come on..... Can you imagine? Microsoft would have to update their own Def's every couple of hours considering that they have a hard enough time with having to patch the Security Holes is the OS's! Oh wait a minute.... Security Holes = Fixes, and Fixes = Job Security!!!!!
